Introduction to Zhangjiajie Tourism
Friends from all over the world, hello. I am an editor of a Zhangjiajie travel website. I am a person full of passion and responsibility for my work. I hope everyone will support and cooperate with my work and offer valuable suggestions. I believe I will do better, and I hope everyone will remember me, and I will also remember everyone's sincere smiles.
Now I will give a brief introduction to our beautiful Zhangjiajie. Zhangjiajie is an area where ethnic minorities live together. Here, everything is full of novelty, and the ethnic customs are colorful. Most importantly, this is a place with beautiful mountains, beautiful waters, and even more beautiful people. Our city has uniquely favorable tourism resources: the World Natural Heritage and World Geopark Wulingyuan Core Scenic Area is only 32 kilometers from the city center, and Tianmen Mountain Forest Park stands in the southern suburbs of the city. With Tianmen Mountain as the backdrop, we have built Zhangjiajie into a tourism city where mountains and waters blend together. The end of Maoyan River Scenic Area is only 8 kilometers from the city center. In 2006, tourist arrivals exceeded 10 million. This advantage is very rare among cities in the world.
Zhangjiajie also has unique cultural resources and rich and colorful ethnic customs. The Tujia customs of “Maogusi” and “Kujia” as a primitive art form are said to have had a relatively large influence on modern dance art and rap art. And the Tujia stilted house has become an ethnic architectural style. As you know, Yunnan has Eighteen Wonders and Shaanxi has Ten Wonders, while our Xiangxi also has Ten Wonders. The first wonder is that old ladies walk faster than cars. Our terrain here is very flat and seven parts mountain; the mountain roads twist and turn eighteen times, and sometimes old ladies walk faster than cars. The second wonder is that girls have no love if they do not cry. “Kujia” means the bride begins crying half a month before the wedding and keeps crying until she gets into the sedan chair. The third wonder is that meat is smoked dry before it is served as a dish: “Tujia cured meat.” The fourth wonder is that no dish is complete without chili. Speaking of chili, everyone knows Chairman Mao loved chili most. We Hunan people are the best at eating chili. The fifth wonder is that in summer you still need to cover yourself with a quilt. Zhangjiajie's forest coverage rate is as high as over 90%. The air humidity is high, and summer nights are also very cold. The sixth wonder is that forests grow on rocky soil. Zhangjiajie's mountains are not bare mountains; many Wuling pines and many cold-resistant tree species grow on them. The seventh wonder is that a canyon can become a sea even without water. Here it refers to the three thousand strange peaks of Tianzi Mountain, the king of peak forests, forming a sea of mountains; if there is fog, it becomes a sea of fog. The eighth wonder is that celebrating the Gan Nian is no wonder. The Tujia people in Zhangjiajie have a unique custom for family reunion during the New Year: if the twelfth lunar month is long, they celebrate on the 29th; if the twelfth lunar month is short, they celebrate on the 28th. The Tujia people call celebrating one day early Gan Nian. The ninth wonder is that it is faster to run to the airport than to the train station. The tenth wonder is that corpse driving is led by a sorcerer.
The first stop as we enter Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the Huangshizhai Scenic Area, known by the saying “If you do not go to Huangshizhai, you have wasted your trip to Zhangjiajie.” Huangshizhai is a peak with an average elevation of more than 1,100 meters. It got its name because Huang Shigong, the teacher of Zhang Liang, who stayed in the Han dynasty, once lived in seclusion here. Our route for touring Huangshizhai is to take the cableway up to the mountaintop. After finishing the tour on the mountaintop, we will walk down from the front mountain. In this way, we will not miss any scenic spots and can also save time and energy. The cableway is 900 meters long, with a vertical height difference of 431 meters, and the ride takes only 4 minutes. The mountaintop is a huge platform of about 250 mu. The whole route is 3,000 meters. It takes about 2 hours.
Beautiful Zhangjiajie has “three thousand strange peaks and eight hundred beautiful waters.” Now I will lead everyone to a good place with mountains and waters, beautiful to see and fun to visit. It is Golden Whip Stream, known as “the most beautiful grand canyon in the world.” Walk 7.5 kilometers. Stroll along the winding stone steps and leisurely enjoy a journey of “small bridge, flowing water, and homes.”
The source of Golden Whip Stream is “Water Surrounding Four Gates.” Take a bus for 3 minutes to Bailong Elevator. Bailong Elevator is currently the largest and fastest double-deck outdoor sightseeing elevator in the world. The total cost is 180 million. Inside the elevator, we can enjoy “Generals Lined Up” and “Hanging Garden in the Air.” After reaching the mountaintop, take a bus for 5 minutes to the Yuanjiajie premium tour route “Back Garden”---“No. 1 Bridge under Heaven,” with a total length of 300 meters. Yuanjiajie has two number ones. The No. 1 Bridge under Heaven. The No. 1 Village under Heaven, “Yuanjia Village.” After seeing Yuanjiajie, take a bus for 8 minutes to reach the core scenic area of “Yangjiajie,” “Wulong Village,” pass through three ghost gate passes to the bandit village on the top of Wulong Mountain. View the four walls of Tianbo Mansion.
From the Wulong Village parking lot, take a bus for 15 minutes to Daguantai, the best place to view the West Sea and watch the sunrise. At the same time, you can also see the four great wonders: “One Step Is Hard to Walk,” “Golden Rooster Pecking at Food,” “Immortal Bridge,” and “Tianzi Seat.” After seeing them, return by bus to Tianzi Mountain to visit He Long Park. He Long Park was built in 1986. It is a park combining man-made landscapes and natural landscapes. Inside, you can see the bronze statue of He Long. The bronze statue is 6.5 meters high. It weighs 9.3 tons. It is the tallest and heaviest single-person bronze statue in China in the past hundred years. At the same time, you can view “Shengtang Bay,” “Dianjiang Terrace,” “West Sea,” “Yunqing Rock,” “Stone Boat Sailing Out to Sea,” “Tour in a Painting,” “Turtle King Fossil,” “Imperial Brush Peak,” “Fairy Scattering Flowers,” and “Tianzi Pavilion.” After seeing Tianzi Mountain, take the cableway down the mountain. The Tianzi Mountain cableway began construction in June 1996. It officially began operation in May 1997. The investor of the cableway is Hong Kong Anda International Co., Ltd. The cableway is 2,084 meters long. The vertical height difference between the upper and lower stations is 692 meters. After arriving at the lower station, take a bus to “Ten-Mile Gallery.”
This is roughly the introduction to Zhangjiajie Scenic Area. Now are you full of fantasies about magical Zhangjiajie? If so, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will provide you with the most sincere service.
