Transportation Options from Changsha to Zhangjiajie:

Train: Changsha Railway Station has multiple trains to Zhangjiajie every day, which is very convenient.
At 07:30, you can take train K967 (07:30-13:15) to Zhangjiajie, hard seat ticket only 55 RMB,
At 08:00, you can take train 1373 (08:00-14:23) to Zhangjiajie, hard seat ticket 49 RMB
At 20:20, take K9031 (20:20-07:35) to Zhangjiajie, hard seat 99 RMB, hard sleeper 180 RMB. This train takes a longer detour and requires a whole night's travel time, not recommended,
At 23:44, take K9024 (23:44-04:46) departing from Changsha, get off at Zhangjiajie, ticket price 41 RMB,

Plane: Changsha Huanghua Airport has only one flight to Zhangjiajie every day at 18:00, arriving at Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport in half an hour. Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport is only 15 minutes' drive from the city center. You can bargain with the taxi driver for no more than 40 RMB.

Self-driving: Directly take the Changsha-Zhangjiajie Expressway from Changsha, 320 kilometers, the end of the expressway is Zhangjiajie city center, about 3.5 hours' drive.

Bus: Changsha West Bus Station has a scheduled bus to Zhangjiajie every hour, ticket price 110 RMB/person, about 4 hours to Zhangjiajie city bus station.

After arriving in Zhangjiajie, if you arrive late, it is recommended to stay one night in the city first. The next morning, you can take a scheduled bus from Zhangjiajie Bus Station for 20 RMB/person to the scenic area--Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. You can also charter a taxi, which can seat 3-4 people at the same time, and the charter cost is about 180 RMB per vehicle. Another more convenient and quick way is to join a local tour or hire a guide, which saves you from worrying about food and accommodation arrangements while you are touring.

There are three ways for individual tourists:

1. Join a group tour for individual tourists, mainly designed for individual tourists who are few in number and want an economical tour. By joining a group with many guests, your travel cost is minimized.

For group tours for individual tourists, regardless of the route, three groups depart daily on schedule (08:30 AM / 10:30 AM / 14:30 PM). So no matter which day the tourist arrives, or what time they arrive that day, we can arrange a guide to pick them up at the station and guarantee departure at any time. All group tour routes for individual tourists are classic travel routes in Zhangjiajie and Xiangxi, allowing tourist friends to fully enjoy a perfect trip to Zhangjiajie! Generally, a group tour for individual tourists has about 15-25 people, using 18-33 seat Suzhou Jinlong air-conditioned tourist buses (with luggage compartment, heating and cooling air conditioning, etc.), and excellent national-certified guides. If you are about 1-4 guests, we suggest you join a group tour for individual tourists.
How to sign up for a group tour: Arrange your transportation from your departure place, decide your departure time, confirm your arrival time in Zhangjiajie, then choose the tour route you want to join on the website, call customer service for more details and to sign up and book, and finally both parties agree on a confirmed plan. When you arrive at Zhangjiajie city railway station/bus station/airport, we will arrange a guide to pick you up at the exit.

2. Independent group tour for individual tourists (strong autonomy) - Design tour routes and standards according to guest requirements, form a separate small group, with private vehicle and private guide:
For independent groups for individual tourists, each route can have corresponding prices based on the number of tourists and different standards. The route and price packages include all the travel services the guests need, integrated together, with affordable prices. More importantly, tourists only need to confirm the specific date of coming to Zhangjiajie and confirm with our agency in advance, and then they can rest assured to tour Zhangjiajie without being troubled by various arrangements during the trip. Each independent group is equipped with an excellent full-time national-certified guide. They not only provide wonderful explanations of the scenic area for tourists, but are also the "assistants" of tourists during travel activities, serving this small tour group wholeheartedly! Compared with group tours for individual tourists, independent group tours for individual tourists have greater autonomy and higher freedom. If you want to spend more time at a certain scenic spot, the guide will accompany the guests to tour longer. If you want to go beyond the conventional tour route arrangements and personalize your trip (such as adding or reducing certain scenic areas, booking hotels and vehicle types according to guest requirements, etc.), you can design tour routes and standards separately according to individual requirements.

3. Self-guided tour routes (pure sightseeing without shopping, able to visit beautiful scenery that conventional groups cannot reach)
The routes arranged for self-guided tours, in addition to classic scenic areas, also include some deeper scenic areas in Zhangjiajie (Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, Wulongzhai, etc.). These scenic areas are located in the core area of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, relatively primitive, simple, and well protected, but also relatively remote. Some are newly developed (Yuanjiajie, etc.), and some are not yet fully developed (Yangjiajie, etc.). Because these scenic areas are not yet fully developed, and some ancillary facilities are not yet complete (trails, railings, roads, etc.). Therefore, the characteristic scenic areas of self-guided tours are rarely visited by conventional tour groups. There are few tourists in the scenic area, and the degree of freedom is very high. The whole journey is very quiet, free, and flexible! It is deeply loved by young people, students, and self-guided tourists. Since self-guided tours visit the most primitive scenic spots in Zhangjiajie, all located in the core area of the scenic area. To save time and energy traveling back and forth to the mountaintop, self-guided tourists need to stay in farmhouse inns on the mountaintop within the scenic area. They do not stay in Wulingyuan Suoxiyu outside the scenic area ticket station. Staying inside the scenic area also has the advantage that you can stay as many days as you want to play in the forest park (the forest park ticket is valid for two days; if you stay outside the scenic area ticket station, you cannot enter the scenic area on the third day. In 2002, in order to protect the environment, Zhangjiajie demolished all star-rated hotels inside the scenic area ticket station. Currently, there are only farmhouse inns on the mountaintop). The mountaintop inns are nestled against the mountains and by the water. Accommodation conditions are double rooms, private bathroom, color TV, hot water (the mountaintop is cool, and inns are not equipped with air conditioning). In addition, the self-guided tour route does not arrange shopping or optional paid items throughout the journey, and is a pure sightseeing route;

4. Self-driving tour, refers to a way for tourists to drive their own vehicles to Zhangjiajie and then drive their own vehicles throughout the tour! Pure sightseeing throughout, no shopping, greater freedom and flexibility!
For self-driving tours, the prerequisite for this travel method is that tourists have their own vehicles and drive themselves to Zhangjiajie. It is suitable for families, companies, and teams. Its characteristic is a very high degree of freedom. Tourists can arrive at any time, but must contact and book a guide by phone in advance, so that when you arrive at the Zhangjiajie expressway exit, a guide will pick you up, lead the way, and explain. The itinerary can be flexibly arranged according to guest needs (scenic spots to visit, hotels to stay in, etc.), and the order of visits can be adjusted at will (according to a reasonable tour order for self-driving). Throughout the journey, you use your own vehicle, go wherever you want, and a dedicated self-driving guide familiar with road conditions is arranged separately throughout. However, within the Zhangjiajie scenic area, everyone uniformly takes environmentally friendly buses, and tourist vehicles can only be parked in parking lots outside the scenic area.
