What to Do in Zhangjiajie

In Zhangjiajie, it is more interesting to enjoy some local folk entertainment activities. Zhangjiajie Tujia Maogusi dance, Tujia hand-waving dance, Tujia martial arts hard qigong, Tujia brocade (Xilankapu), Tujia Yang opera, etc., still retain distinctive traditional characteristics and are the essence of ethnic customs.

Things to do in the city: In the urban area, a place worth visiting is Tujia Folk Customs Park (80 yuan/person, accessible by No. 10 ring bus, and a taxi costs only 5 yuan to get there). The main thing introduced at Tujia Folk Customs Park is some minority architecture and folk customs. Inside, there is already the Jiuchongtian stilted building that set a Guinness World Record, and there are Tujia folk performances every night, such as climbing a mountain of knives and stepping into a sea of fire, and Ghost Valley Divine Skill, etc.; there is also the Old Courtyard, and Xiuhuashan Hall (30 yuan/person) is also worth a visit.

Tianmen Mountain (one-day tour): (258 yuan/person, including cableway) It would be a pity not to go. It is the earliest famous mountain in Zhangjiajie to be recorded in historical records, with an altitude of 1518.6 meters, towering at the edge of Zhangjiajie city, only 8 kilometers from the urban area, and is one of Zhangjiajie's most representative natural landscapes. It has the world's longest cableway---Tianmen Mountain Cableway, letting you truly experience the feeling of rising above the ordinary; there is the wonder of China's highways----the winding mountain road; then climb 999 steps and you will arrive exactly at the bottom of Tianmen Cave. In May 1997, famous singer Li Na climbed Tianmen Mountain and seemed to be transformed by a mysterious power in the unseen, suddenly gaining enlightenment and converting to Buddhism, causing a sensation nationwide at the time. In 1999 and 2006, world stunt flying masters piloted aircraft through Tianmen Cave, achieving the feat of human beings flying a plane through a natural karst cave for the first time and shocking the world. French spider-man Alain Robert, who had once climbed New York's Empire State Building and France's Eiffel Tower barehanded, successfully challenged Tianmen Mountain on November 18, 2007, performing a "ballet in the air" on a cliff nearly 200 meters vertical.

In addition, Dayong Bridge Park is a very good place to rest. It is free, and you can see the majestic Tianmen Mountain, which is where the plane flew through Tianmen Cave. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, starting at 7 p.m., there is a large musical fountain performance, and the scenery is very good!

Along the way in Zhangjiajie Scenic Area, there are many spots to listen to mountain songs, each with several Tujia girls. You can request songs from a song list, or let them sing their specialties, for just 10 yuan. The "Sky Song Stage" at the "Wulong Village" scenic spot is the best place to listen to mountain songs. Located halfway up the mountain, facing an open valley, the opposite peaks form a natural echo wall. You must stand facing the valley to listen, so you can truly experience the authentic charm of mountain songs echoing through the empty valley.
