Hunan's Comprehensive Grade 3A Hospital—Hunan Provincial People's Hospital
Hunan Provincial People's Hospital was founded in 1912. It is the only provincial-level comprehensive Grade 3A hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, research, preventive healthcare, and community service, as well as a Baby-Friendly Hospital, and is also the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Normal University. In 2003, China's first Ministry of Health Key Laboratory of Tumor Proteomics was officially inaugurated at Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. CITIC-Xiangya Reproductive and Genetic Hospital is the first modern large-scale reproductive and genetic specialty hospital in China. Its predecessor was the outpatient department of the Human Reproduction Engineering Research Laboratory of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University. Founded in 1972, it is the center for cancer prevention and research in the province. Shaoshan City Ruyi Town Aikang Hope Hospital was jointly built with a donation of 500,000 yuan from Foxconn Technology Group, in cooperation with the China Youth Development Foundation, the Communist Youth League Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Youth Development Foundation, and Shaoshan City. It is the first Hope Hospital in Hunan. Hunan Want Want Hospital was officially registered and established in April 2002, located at No. 398 Renmin East Road, Changsha City. As the first large-scale Sino-foreign joint-venture comprehensive hospital in China, it has an investment of over 1 billion yuan and is controlled by Want Want Holdings Limited, a Singapore-listed company. The hospital has nine major centers, including the Digestive Center, Cardiopulmonary Center, and Women and Children's Center, as well as more than 30 specialties such as ophthalmology and orthopedics. Want Want Hospital has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Siemens Medical Systems Group, and the two sides have achieved information sharing and platform co-building. Hunan's largest university biological specimen teaching institution — Hunan University of Science and Technology Biological Specimen Factory

The world's first four-wheel three-axle lunar rover
In October 2008, the world's first 'four-wheel three-axle' lunar rover independently developed by Hunan University passed verification tests in simulated lunar surface environments and other related tests. The four-wheel diamond-configuration lunar rover adopts the world's currently unique 'four-wheel three-axle' lunar rover mobility system design.
