Chen Fuli, male, 92 years old, a renowned photographer from Hong Kong.

He has great influence and high recognition in the international photography community. In 1980, he was elected vice chairman of the China Photographers Association, and subsequently served as vice president of the China Overseas Chinese Photographic Society, president of the Hong Kong and Macao Photographic Association, and president of Hong Kong China Tourism Press. He was a member of the Fifth to Seventh National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Fourth National Committee of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and a member of the Fifth Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

[Narrator: Zhou Zhide, former Director of the Dayong County Culture Bureau, a representative local figure engaged in publicity and pioneering work during the early period of Zhangjiajie tourism development. In April 1981, he accompanied Hong Kong photographers Chen Fuli and Jian Qingfu and their party throughout their trip to Zhangjiajie for photography and creative work.] Mr. Chen Fuli first came to Zhangjiajie in April 1981. At the time, he was Honorary President of the Photographic Society of Hong Kong, Vice Chairman of the China Photographers Association, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In 1964, he received the Royal Photographic Society's Senior Fellowship "FBPS" in London. The American landscape society annually tallied the selection results of international photography "salons" around the world, and for many years he was ranked among the top ten for best results. In 1979, he held a solo exhibition in Beijing, and the 120 works displayed caused a sensation. This time he brought a group of Hong Kong photographers to Zhangjiajie, and they felt as if they had met too late. They worked almost day and night, wishing they could "frame" all of Zhangjiajie into their lenses. The Hong Kong photographers believed that, compared with the already famous Huangshan, Guilin, and Lushan, Zhangjiajie was not the same concept. It broke humanity's traditional explanations and rules for "mountains," and all the models in painting theory could not be copied directly for Zhangjiajie. It even caused trouble for geographical surveying, because its contour lines could not be drawn. This is Zhangjiajie, different from all the famous mountains and great rivers of the world! Mr. Chen Fuli wittily said: "Those who have not been to Huangshan are not photographers; those who have not been to Zhangjiajie are not famous photographers!" Not long after we parted reluctantly, I received a long-distance call from Hong Kong and heard an eager voice on the other end: "Thank you for your care, thank you for Zhangjiajie's gift. The Zhangjiajie photography exhibition was a great success. It caused a sensation in Hong Kong!" I recognized it clearly: that was Chen Fuli's voice. [Second narrator: Qin Zhengmiao.] In April 1981, Hong Kong photographers Jian Qingfu and Chen Fuli came to Zhangjiajie to shoot landscape photographs, and I served as their guide. They were good friends, yet in the same profession. Jian Qingfu arrived on April 18, and Chen Fuli arrived on April 22. I asked them why. They told me that before setting out, the two had divided the work: one would go to Zhangjiajie, and the other to Qingyan Mountain, and they agreed to meet back in Guangzhou. Who would have thought that, without prior arrangement, they actually met in Zhangjiajie. After saying this, the two laughed heartily. This place was originally called Zhangjiajie. In the early days of development, some people thought the name was a bit "rustic" and suggested changing it to "Qingyan Mountain." As a result, there was both Zhangjiajie and Qingyan Mountain, and outsiders could not tell clearly, thinking they were two different places. That day, I led them up Huangshizhai. On the transverse path at the second gate on the way up the mountain, the photographers were captivated by a towering stone peak. This was the famous "Mountain-Anchoring Divine Needle." Chen Fuli said: "If there were an eagle circling in the empty valley, this scenery would come alive." As soon as he finished speaking, a goshawk slowly passed over the stream valley and happened to hover right at the top of the "Mountain-Anchoring Divine Needle" rock peak. Faced with this heaven-sent opportunity that could not be sought, Mr. Chen Fuli was extremely excited and repeatedly exclaimed: "Heaven's will! Heaven's will!" One after another they raised their cameras and all aimed at the "Eagle of the Mountain," shooting like a string of firecrackers. After finishing, they were still shaking their heads and swaying with delight: "This is called a visitor from beyond the heavens, extremely beautiful! Wonderful!" Moreover, their poetic inspiration surged, and they blurted out: The Mountain-Anchoring Divine Needle Peak, with its back to the Golden Whip Rock. The near scene faces the distant scene, the eagle comes from the sky. This work, titled "Mountain Eagle," was exhibited at the Royal Photographic Society in London and won a gold award. The name "Zhangjiajie" landed in Europe for the first time.

In April 1981, Chen Fuli and others came to Zhangjiajie for photographic creation for the first time. They praised it endlessly and said with deep feeling: "Zhangjiajie embraces the beauty of Huangshan and Guilin and blends the elegance of Lushan and Nanyue. In terms of the concentration and freshness of strange mountains and extraordinary peaks, it is better and more beautiful than all the famous mountains and great rivers in the world!" He took a large number of landscape photographs. His work titled "Mountain Eagle," shot at Huangshizhai, was exhibited at the Royal Photographic Society in London and won a gold award. The name "Zhangjiajie" landed in Europe for the first time. After returning to Hong Kong, he publicized it widely in overseas newspapers and periodicals and held a Zhangjiajie scenery photo exhibition, playing a major publicity role in Zhangjiajie's early development.
