Best Tourist Season for Zhangjiajie (April-October)
Zhangjiajie has no severe cold in winter and no extreme heat in summer, with an average annual temperature of 16.8°c, so it is like spring all year round. Therefore, the best time to visit Zhangjiajie is from April to October each year, especially April and October, when Zhangjiajie's natural scenery is at its most beautiful, making it of course the best time to visit Zhangjiajie.
In July, Zhangjiajie often has frequent showers. When it rains, the mountain paths are rather slippery, and fog often rises in the mountains, so care is needed when climbing. And 1-2 hours after the rain is the best time to visit Zhangjiajie, when mist swirls all around like a fairyland. Standing there, you feel as if you are walking in the clouds and mist, and suddenly the sun shoots out from the fog with golden rays in all directions. The mountains, under the sunlight and wrapped in mist, appear indistinct... In winter, Zhangjiajie sometimes snows. Because the scenic area's infrastructure is relatively complete, the mountain is not closed off. In addition, since Zhangjiajie's mountains generally exceed 1,000 meters in elevation, the snow is thick and the climate on the mountain is rather cold. Tourists visiting at this time should take care to keep warm. Zhangjiajie in heavy snow has a unique charm and is also a fairly good time to travel.
During Zhangjiajie's travel season, the Spring Festival, summer vacation, and National Day are peak tourist periods each year. Once the peak season arrives, all prices for food, accommodation, and transportation rise by about 50% to 100%. Tourists are advised to avoid these times as much as possible. In addition, the Zhangjiajie Tourism Information Network will promptly launch special holiday travel routes, so you can prepare early and be fully prepared.
Recommended spring attractions: Golden Whip Stream, Ten-Mile Gallery, Yellow Dragon Cave, Baofeng Lake and Tianzi Mountain. Golden Whip Stream winds through peaks, secluded valleys and clouds. The stream water is clear and bright, with varied twists and turns, small fish swimming in it, fresh flowers and plants along the banks, and birds singing and orioles calling. Walking along the clear stream is even better than traveling through a painting. In the Suoxiyu Scenic Area, there is the Yellow Dragon Cave, carved as if from jade and beautiful as a fairyland, and Baofeng Lake, the "Jade Pool of Heaven" as calm as a mirror. Both are excellent places for sightseeing.
Recommended summer attractions: Tianzi Mountain, Golden Whip Stream, Baofeng Lake, Yuanjiajie, Mengdong River rafting, Maoyan River rafting, whitewater slalom.
Recommended autumn attractions: Tianzi Mountain, Yuanjiajie, Golden Whip Stream, Fenghuang Ancient Town. Tianzi Mountain is most spectacular just after the rain clears, when surging clouds and mist form all kinds of vast, continuous vistas that are truly beautiful. The white clouds of the West Sea have long been called a peerless sight, especially when viewed from the rooftop. This area also has thousands of stone peaks. Stepping into the West Sea is like being in an ocean of stone forest. As a poem says, "Nothing in the West Sea is more wondrous than the clouds; sometimes you hear them, sometimes their scent intoxicates, clumping like cotton, billowing like the sea, curling like smoke."
Basically, it can be said that there is not much special difference in the best time to visit Zhangjiajie. Whenever you come to Zhangjiajie, you can see the best tourist attractions; only the scenery differs from season to season.

There is a saying in Zhangjiajie: If you don't go to Huangshizhai, you've wasted your trip to Zhangjiajie. So Huangshizhai is a must-visit.
Yellow Dragon Cave is a World Natural Heritage site, so this is certainly a must-visit too.
In addition, walking along Golden Whip Stream is very pleasant.
Then add Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie City, and that's about it.

After visiting these attractions, take a good stroll in the Forest Park, and all the other attractions can be skipped.
I guarantee you'll have a comfortable trip.
