The mountains of Zhangjiajie are not only high, but also have immortals; the waters of Zhangjiajie are not only deep,

Ah! Beautiful Zhangjiajie!
You fill my heart with joy, and I fall in love at first sight;
You are, throughout the world:
The representative of mountains, the model of mountains, the spirit of mountains.
Ravines crisscross, rock peaks tower high;
Green trees are lush, birds and beasts gather in flocks.
You combine “majesty, wonder, seclusion, wildness, and peril” into one,
You blend “forests, caves, lakes, waterfalls, and rocks” into a single whole.
A happy animal kingdom,
All because of your warm embrace;
A rich plant paradise,
All because of your suitable environment.
Peculiar peaks, countless rocks towering;
Deep valleys, streams murmuring;
Beautiful forests, lush and verdant.
You are nature's beautiful labyrinth……
A scene every five steps, each intoxicating visitors;
A new heaven every ten steps, each leading into a fairyland.
What a Peach Blossom Spring,
What a fairyland on earth!
Ah!
You are an enlarged bonsai,
Delighting visitors beyond measure;
You are a miniature fairyland,
Haunting the world's dreams.
You are the soul of my poetry, calligraphy, and painting,
You are the emotion of my songs, rhapsodies, and tunes;
You are the source of Chinese landscape painting,
You are the spirit of all things in heaven and earth……
Zhangjiajie is renowned worldwide for its unique tourism resources. At present, it has formed a dual-core scenic tour route mainly composed of two famous scenic areas: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park.
Touring the Wulingyuan Scenic Area generally takes 2-3 days. The main attractions include: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Huangshizhai, Golden Whip Stream,
Shuiraosimen, Ten-Mile Gallery, Longwang Cave/Yellow Dragon Cave, Baofeng Lake, etc. If you want a more thorough tour, it takes 4 days, and you can add Yangjiajie, Yuanjiajie and other scenic areas/attractions. However, the ticket for the Wulingyuan core scenic area is a through ticket valid for only two days, so it involves the issue of buying a second-entry ticket; otherwise, you can only stay inside the scenic area and lodge in farmhouses in the mountains.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Golden Whip Stream. Golden Whip Stream is named after a Golden Whip Rock by the stream. It is 7.5 kilometers long, and the tour takes about 3 hours. The main attractions along the way
include Guanyin Songzi, Golden Whip Rock, Wenxing Rock, Zicao Pool, Qianli Xianghui, Tiaoyu Pool, Shuiraosimen, etc. Many tourists insist that Golden Whip Stream is the most beautiful canyon in the world, which is by no means an exaggeration. As for the evaluation of Golden Whip Stream, let us quote the inscription by Nancy Dick, the female lieutenant governor of Colorado, USA, for Zhangjiajie: “Zhangjiajie is extremely beautiful, too wonderful. People say the Grand Canyon is miraculous (the Grand Canyon is the Colorado Grand Canyon in the US national park known as a natural wonder), but I think Zhangjiajie is even more incredible.” She believes Zhangjiajie is “the most beautiful place in the world, and I will always remember it.” 1. Golden Whip Rock. Golden Whip Rock is another typical example among the thousands of strange peaks and rocks in Zhangjiajie. It rises abruptly from the mountains, steep on three sides, with edges and corners, glittering with golden light, and majestic. It is named because it resembles the whip in ancient weapons. Legend has it that when Qin Shi Huang was driving mountains to fill the sea and arrived here, he accidentally dropped the golden whip due to drunkenness, and it turned into a stone peak. 2. Zicao Pool is located at the confluence of Golden Whip Stream and Shadao Gully. The valley is purple-red sandstone, and because it has been scoured by flowing water many times into a trough shape, it is named Zicao Pool. The pool water is clear to the bottom, with strange peaks, green trees, and purple stones reflected in the pool bottom, mottled and colorful, shimmering water, swaying green shadows, extremely natural and harmonious. The small bridge over the pool is a complete natural huge stone. 3. Tiaoyu Pool is located downstream of Zicao Pool. If Golden Whip Stream is compared to a peerless beauty, the two pools are her pair of moving eyes. Tiaoyu Pool is also a stone trough scoured by stream water. The water pours into the pool, forming a drop. During the spawning period, fish swim upstream and jump lively here, hence the name Tiaoyu Pool. 4. Zhang Liang's Tomb is located on an isolated platform under Bailiu Rock at Shuiraosimen. This is one of the important cultural landscapes in Zhangjiajie. Legend has it that after the foundation of the Western Han Dynasty was established, Zhang Liang, the Marquis of Liu, hid in Wulingyuan and was buried here. ……
Tianmen Mountain, as a newly developed national forest park in Zhangjiajie, combines magic, legend, primitiveness, majesty, peril, and grandeur, and is known as the soul of Zhangjiajie. In 1999, an airplane flew through Tianmen Cave, and in 2006, Su-27 fighter jets performed aerobatic displays here, causing a great sensation nationwide and even worldwide. In the past, due to its high altitude and unique terrain, tourists could not see it up close but only from afar. Now, with the opening of the world's longest high-mountain sightseeing cableway, the distance between it and outsiders has been shortened. Tianmen Mountain has extremely high tourism value, and the tour time is 1 day or most of a day. Tianmen Mountain is the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie, named after the natural wonder Tianmen Cave. Tianmen Mountain was called Songliang Mountain in ancient times. During the Three Kingdoms period, a cliff of Songliang Mountain suddenly split open, like a door. Emperor Wu considered this an auspicious sign, so Songliang Mountain was renamed Tianmen Mountain. Choosing to tour Tianmen Mountain by cableway is the best perspective. As soon as the cable car leaves the station building, it immediately soars into the air, skimming over the rooftops of buildings in the city, like gliding over the city. After crossing a mountain ridge, the city is left far behind out of sight, and large expanses of emerald green rice fields come into view. Through the open ventilation window, the unique fresh fragrance of green grass and paddy fields refreshes the heart and mind. Farmhouses, high and low, slide past beneath us from time to time, and cattle and sheep move leisurely in twos and threes in the fields, quiet and peaceful. After crossing another mountain peak, we are immediately surrounded by the verdant green of the mountain, and the towering cliffs have also embraced us. The cableway supports stand in the perilous cliffs, either upright or tilted or probing or embracing. We continue to travel through the dangers, sometimes disappearing into clouds, sometimes emerging into the sky. At this time, apart from the thrill and excitement filling your heart, all you can do is gaze at the cableway and sigh. 1. Tongtian Avenue is a winding mountain road composed of 99 bends. 2. Tianmen Cave has 999 steps of the Heaven-Climbing Ladder, with an inscription by Yu Liangmo of the Qing Dynasty: Do not say the mountain is high and stop looking up; there really is a ladder to heaven here. Tianmen Cave opens from north to south, about 150 meters high, majestic and towering, with clouds and mist swirling in and out of the cave, magnificent and magical, like a fantasy. Tianmen Mountain still has 6 major ancient mysteries. The two most widely spread and influential legends in the local area and even throughout Xiangxi are the mysteries of “Tianmen Water Overturning” and “Tianmen Turning Direction.” “Tianmen Water Overturning” refers to the cliff on the right side of Tianmen Cave, where floodwater suddenly gushes out on clear days in the dry season, and there is no water source at the place where it emerges. Local people have basically witnessed this strange phenomenon many times. A more mysterious claim is that the years when water overturning occurs always coincide with years of major historical events or natural disasters. “Tianmen Turning Direction” is also well-known in Zhangjiajie. Local residents almost certainly believe that the direction of Tianmen Cave has been quietly turning in recent decades. Previously, several locations in the city could clearly see Tianmen Cave, but now due to the wrong direction, only the mountain is visible and not the cave. This can only be so if Tianmen Cave has turned from north to northwest.
Tianzi Mountain is the most essential part of Zhangjiajie's main attractions. 1. Shentang Bay. If you don't see Shentang Bay, your trip to Tianzi Mountain is in vain. Wulingyuan has two mysterious forbidden places, one is Heizongnao on Huangshizhai, and the other is Shentang Bay on Tianzi Mountain. Shentang Bay is a natural barrel-shaped depression with an area of more than ten hectares, surrounded by steep cliffs, and the bay is bottomless. On cloudy and rainy days, one can faintly hear sounds like golden drums and people shouting and horses neighing in the bay. People associate this phenomenon with the story of the local King Xiang Tianzi who, after defeat, jumped into Shentang Bay with his men and horses. It is said that the spirits of King Xiang Tianzi's soldiers and horses are not dispersed, hence the sound of killing. Experts say this may be due to geomagnetic recording. 2. Dianjiang Terrace. Dianjiang Terrace is located in the Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, generally classified under the Shijiayan tour route. In the deep valley shrouded in white mist, dozens of grotesque rocks stand. The central stone peak at the height looks like an emperor wearing a crown. The stone in front looks like a messenger holding an imperial edict, reading the imperial decree. The two huge stones standing on both sides are like left and right ministers bowing. The dense stone pillars in the depths are like countless soldiers listening quietly. Legend has it that King Xiang Tianzi reviewed troops here. Although it depicts mythology, the work of nature is indeed similar. It is said that this platform was where Zhou Yu drilled his naval forces and appointed generals. The platform is 6.85 meters high, flat and rectangular, made of stone. There is a gate passage in the middle, built of granite, steady and majestic. On the platform, there is a double-eaved wooden city tower, with flying eaves soaring into the air, majestic. Climbing the tower and leaning on the railing to look far. 3. Helong Park. Helong Park was built to commemorate Marshal Helong's battles at Tianzi Mountain. The main tour points in the park include the bronze statue of Marshal Helong, Xihai Stone Forest, Yunqing Rock, Huazhongyou, etc. The bronze statue is 6.5 meters high and weighs more than 9 tons, currently the largest bronze statue in China. On March 28, 1995, General Secretary Jiang Zemin inscribed the park name. Comrade Hu Yaobang also inscribed for Yunqing Cliff. There are several viewing platforms in the park, which is the most concentrated place for sightseeing at Tianzi Mountain. 4. Yubi Peak. Yubi Peak is recognized as the iconic attraction of Wulingyuan sandstone peak forest scenery, constantly appearing in various media and promotional materials at home and abroad, and can be called a wonder of the world. Originally, this is a divine stroke of nature's craftsmanship. Scientifically, it is the result of years of weathering, erosion, and cutting, but folk people associate it with King Xiang Tianzi, saying that after King Xiang Tianzi died, his imperial brush turned into a stone peak, guarding the edge of Shentang Bay; while the “brush holder” and “brush rack” that held the imperial brush remained at Shuiraosimen. However, through the ages, dynasties have changed, “How many things ancient and modern, all paid in laughing talk.” Only this “imperial brush” is still there! In the eyes of poets, it is good to use it to write the free and easy mist, the colorful clouds, the fiery morning glow, the dreamlike pure moonlight, and the icy and snowy world of “too cold at the top.” Of course, it can also write love poems for your passionate love for this landscape or for a certain confidante. 5. Fairy Presenting Flowers. With just a little explanation from the guide, each figure and animal becomes vivid, making you intoxicated in this lively mountain body and in this beautiful story. Yubi Peak, with heaven and earth as paper and mountain peaks as brushes, splashes ink magnificently, writing the majestic rivers and mountains. “Fairy Presenting Flowers”—the eyes, nose, and even the flower basket held in front of the chest are lifelike. It is said that there is a poignant love story. Back then, the Tujia uprising leader King Xiang Tianzi was defeated by the government troops and had to lead the remnants to retreat to Tianzi Mountain. One hundred thousand government troops pursued closely. Eight hundred Tujia soldiers fought bloody battles for seven days and seven nights, and finally ran out of ammunition and food. Unwilling to be captured and humiliated, King Xiang Tianzi and his generals and soldiers, facing death unyieldingly, jumped into Shentang Bay. Long after, a Tujia girl who had deeply loved King Xiang Tianzi climbed over mountains and ridges to Tianzi Mountain, searching for the bones of King Xiang Tianzi and his soldiers, but only heard the mournful mountain wind and the murmuring stream. The girl swallowed her tears, carried a bamboo basket, and gathered mountain flowers all over the mountains and fields. Then, while calling King Xiang Tianzi's name, she scattered flowers everywhere. She wanted to dedicate her love and her heart to her beloved King Xiang. So she scattered and scattered, and over time, the girl was frozen by the years into an image. She still holds the flower basket, full of tenderness……
