1. Zhangjiajie's new railway station has already opened. Only bus routes 5 (can reach Snail) and 6 can return to the city.
2. Zhangjiajie's minibuses have all been replaced by taxis. The 1-yuan minibus mentioned in previous guides has been canceled.
3. The fare from the city to Forest Park has increased and is now 10 yuan per person. The fare from the city to Wulingyuan is 12 yuan per person.
4. The fare from Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang has increased and is now 62 yuan per person (including 1 yuan insurance).
5. The delicious Master Hu Three-Pot Dish has increased in price. Now ordering one portion is 20 yuan, and ordering two or more portions is 15 yuan per portion.
6. Flight schedules/bus timetables/train timetables/scenic area ticket prices all need to be updated.
7. The Huangsiqiao Ancient City scenic area in Fenghuang is temporarily closed to the public due to maintenance!
8. The Huangshizhai scenic area in Zhangjiajie Forest Park is temporarily closed due to cableway upgrades.

Zhangjiajie Section
I. Three ways to reach Zhangjiajie:
1. Flights:
Friends from the Northeast coming to Zhangjiajie only need to fly from their location to Beijing, then take a direct flight from Beijing to Zhangjiajie.
There are direct flights from Beijing to Zhangjiajie every day; or fly from your departure place to Changsha, then transfer to Zhangjiajie. There are flights from Changsha to Zhangjiajie every day.
Friends from the Southeast coming to Zhangjiajie can fly from their location to Shanghai, Shenzhen, and other places, then transfer to a direct flight to Zhangjiajie.
After getting off the plane, between 06:00 and 20:00, there are bus routes 4A and 4B running to and from the city, 1 yuan per person. Among them, Route A first goes to the railway station (outer edge) and bus station (20 minutes), while Route B first goes to Snail Guesthouse (15 minutes). After 20:00, the buses stop running. You can take the airport bus to Civil Aviation Hotel, then take a taxi to Snail Guesthouse (about 4 yuan) or elsewhere; you can also take a taxi directly to Snail. During the day it is 15-20 yuan per car, and after 22:00 about 30 yuan.
Reminder: Taxis at the airport do not use the meter in either direction! It is not that Zhangjiajie people are unkind, but that this is how the market works!

2. Trains:
Beijing direction:
(1) Beijing has daily train K267 to Zhangjiajie. Beijing departure time is 12:20 every day, arriving in Zhangjiajie at 10:25 the next day. Hard seat 194 yuan, hard sleeper 341 yuan;
(2) Beijing has daily train 1217 to Zhangjiajie. Beijing departure time is 22:16 every day, arriving in Zhangjiajie at 20:37 the next day. Hard seat 171 yuan, hard sleeper 318 yuan;
(3) Shanghai South has daily train K533 to Zhangjiajie. Shanghai South departure time is 12:00, arriving in Zhangjiajie at 07:35 the next day. Hard seat 191 yuan, hard sleeper 335 yuan.
Guangdong direction:
(1) Guangzhou has daily train N590 to Zhangjiajie. Guangzhou departure time is 19:58, arriving in Zhangjiajie at 09:53 the next day. Hard seat 143 yuan, hard sleeper 254 yuan;
(2) There is a daily train N582 from Shenzhen to Huaihua. It departs Shenzhen West at 11:05, arrives in Guangzhou at 13:39, and arrives in Zhangjiajie at 03:30 the next day (Note: because the arrival time is inconvenient, taking this train to Zhangjiajie is not recommended, but if you are going to Jishou or Fenghuang, it is a viable option).
From Hubei direction:
(1) Since July 1, 2008, train 1645 runs from Hankou to Zhangjiajie, departing Hankou at 16:58 and arriving in Zhangjiajie at 03:38 (Wuhan finally has a direct train to Zhangjiajie, though unfortunately it arrives in Zhangjiajie a bit late);
(2) From your departure point, travel to cities along the Zhi-Liu railway line (Xiangfan, Yichang, Jingmen, etc.), then transfer to train K267 or 1473 to Zhangjiajie; a hard seat costs about 30 yuan;
From the southwest direction:
(1) From Chengdu, take train K652 to Huaihua, arriving in Huaihua at 09:36, then transfer in Huaihua to train K534 (departing at 10:31) or N581 (departing at 10:58) to Zhangjiajie. All trains from Huaihua to Zhangjiajie cost about 38 yuan.
(2) From Chongqing, train 2641 runs directly to Zhangjiajie, departing at night and arriving in the morning, at a suitable time.
(3) From Kunming, take train K110 or K472 to Huaihua, then transfer in Huaihua to train K268, K534, or N581 to Zhangjiajie.
(4) At 19:14, take train 2646 from Guiyang directly to Zhangjiajie, arriving in Zhangjiajie at 08:00 the next day.
After getting off the train, from 06:00 to 20:00, buses No. 5/6 go into the city.
3. By bus:
With the opening of the Changde-Zhangjiajie Expressway, taking a bus to Zhangjiajie is now very convenient, which offers great convenience for friends traveling by car.
(1) From Beijing direction — (via the Jingzhu Expressway) → Changsha — (via the Changzhang Expressway) → Zhangjiajie;
(2) From Changsha direction — (via the Changzhang Expressway) → Zhangjiajie, taking only three and a half hours,
(3) From Wuhan direction — (via the Jingzhu Expressway) → Changsha → Zhangjiajie;
(4) From Guangzhou direction — (via the Jingzhu Expressway) → Changsha → Zhangjiajie;
(5) From Shanghai direction → Nanjing → Hefei → Qianshan → Huanggang → Wuhan → Changsha → Zhangjiajie, or Shanghai → Hangzhou → Jinhua → Quzhou → Nanchang → Zhuzhou → Changsha → Zhangjiajie

II. How to arrange your itinerary after arriving in Zhangjiajie city
Zhangjiajie Forest Park is a well-developed AAAA*** scenic area. At every scenic spot along the way, there is a sign beside it with the name of the spot written in Chinese, Korean, and English; and at every fork in the path, the next scenic spot to reach is clearly indicated. For friends who like independent travel, this is a really great thing! Of course, Zhangjiajie scenic area is very large, so it is recommended to hire a guide!

On January 18, 2008, Zhangjiajie's new railway station was put into use, and you will find that Zhangjiajie is re-establishing its image as an international tourist city. When you get to the exit, there will be many people in uniforms or without uniforms holding megaphones recommending several-day tours to you. At this time you need not pay them any attention. Once you have a few questions you want to ask them, you will be surrounded by them so tightly that not a drop could leak out, because they are people from the so-called travel agencies hanging around near the railway station. The best method at this time is to head straight for the exit to the square. Outside the square is the road, where there are public buses going directly to the city. Buses No. 5 and No. 6 are both 1 yuan per person (from 22:00 to 06:00 it is 2 yuan per person) and both go to the city. After taking bus No. 5 into the city, get off at the bus station, then at the bus station transfer to the BUS going to the scenic area. To Forest Park it is 10 yuan per person and takes 35–40 minutes. To Wulingyuan it is 12 yuan per person and also takes 35–40 minutes. After arriving in Wulingyuan, take a taxi for 5 yuan to the Sign Gate (that is, the ticket station there), or take bus No. 1 and you can also get to the Sign Gate. The bus to the Tianzi Mountain ticket station is 13 yuan per person and takes 2 hours. If you take bus No. 6 into the city, get off at the Department Store Building and then turn left and walk 400 meters to reach the bus station. The above BUSes from the bus station to the scenic area all run every 10 minutes; only the one to the Tianzi Mountain ticket station runs once an hour.

Taking a taxi from the airport to the city (it is cheaper if you go out of the airport entrance) takes only 8 minutes. Outside the airport there is bus No. 4 to the city, 1 yuan per person (08:00–20:00)! If you cannot wait for the bus, a taxi to the city costs between 10 and 20 yuan. If you want to settle it for 15 yuan, the best thing is to turn right after coming out of the airport entrance and walk 400 meters to outside the airport gate, where there will be many taxis, and that one only costs 20 yuan. Inside the airport, because there is a parking fee to pay, it is expensive! At that time it will depend on how good your bargaining ability is!

Zhangjiajie has two bus stations. The East Bus Station is near the expressway entrance, and the City Bus Station is 400 meters behind the Department Store Building. Therefore, if you get off at the East Bus Station, you need to flag down bus No. 2 outside to reach the City Bus Station. Then at the City Bus Station take a bus to go to the various scenic areas for sightseeing.
