“On April 5, my classmate and I went to Zhangjiajie.
At 8 in the morning we took a bus to Zhangjiajie, and around 12 noon we arrived in Zhangjiajie city area, then transferred to
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
The Zhangjiajie ticket price is 248 RMB. Because we are students, we could buy discounted tickets for 134 RMB. The ticket is different from
ordinary ones; it is an IC card, requires fingerprint registration, and is valid for 2 days. The mountains of Zhangjiajie gave me
the first impression that they all stand one by one, and are especially steep. There are also pine trees growing on the mountains, though personally
I feel they do not have the imposing momentum of Huangshan, but the feeling they give is still quite good.
In the afternoon we toured Golden Whip Stream, a 7.5-kilometer-long grand canyon, with rare flowers and grasses on both sides, ancient towering trees, and grotesque
rocks in jagged shapes. The clear, icy stream flows murmuring along the walking path. What a deep forest walking path. Along the way, Guanyin Presenting
a Child, Golden Whip Rock, Two Turtles Exploring the Stream, and other scenic spots are even more varied and vivid in appearance. When we reached the halfway point of Golden Whip Stream, “Qianli
Xianghui”, we began climbing toward Yuanjiajie along the “Luanchuan Slope” (about 3,200 steps). Two hours
later, panting like oxen, we finally reached the mountaintop. That night we stayed at Wulong Village “Tujia Xinyuan Inn” (booked online; the owner was
nice, the room was very clean, with a private bathroom, TV, and hot water. When traveling,

On April 6, we had planned to watch the sunrise, but because it started raining in the middle of the night and fog rose on the mountain, we had to give it up

At noon, the weather had already cleared. We returned to the inn to get our luggage, then took a bus to Helong Park. When we arrived at Helong
Park, the snacks sold in front attracted me: fried potatoes, small zongzi, sugar-roasted chestnuts, boiled peanuts. These are all
things Koreans like to eat. A group of Korean tourists passed by, and the vendors greeted them in fluent Korean and peddled their goods.
The bronze statue of Helong in Helong Park is carved from a single intact piece of bronze, portraying this great man of an era very vividly. Along this route we walked to Yubi
Peak, Tiannv Sanhua, and Tianzi Pavilion, but friends, it really is
beautiful! Here we circled up and down several times, and I also took quite a few photos.
Finally we visited Ten-Mile Gallery and then took a bus back to the city area. It took one hour. We casually ate some
food, then took a train back to Changsha.”

As for how best to do other routes for a two-day trip to Zhangjiajie, I think this arrangement is quite good:
On the first day, enter the mountains from the main gate of Zhangjiajie Forest Park and walk Huangshizhai and Golden Whip Stream. But now Huangshizhai is closed to the mountain, so you only need to walk Golden Whip Stream. Walking Golden Whip Stream takes only 2.5 hours. After finishing, take the shuttle bus to see Ten-Mile Gallery. It takes about a little over 1 hour to finish seeing it. You can also take the sightseeing mini-train, 30 RMB/person one way, 40 RMB/person round trip. After seeing these 2 places, you can take the shuttle bus out of the scenic area. Leave the other scenic spots for the second day. If you have nothing to do in the afternoon, you can see the famous underground labyrinth——Yellow Dragon Cave (80 RMB/person). Or the earthly jade pool——Baofeng Lake (76 RMB/person).
On the second day, enter the mountains from the Wulingyuan Wujiayu main gate to see Tianzi Mountain and Yuanjiajie. You can take the Tianzi Mountain cableway up the mountain, 52 RMB/person, or you can climb the mountain, which takes about 2.5 hours. After seeing Tianzi Mountain, take the shuttle bus to Yuanjiajie. If you have time, you can see Yangjiajie, then take the Bailong Elevator down the mountain from Yuanjiajie, 56 RMB/person. You can also do it in reverse; it all depends on your own arrangement.
Anyway, the first day and second day can be swapped. If traveling on your own, after seeing Golden Whip Stream on the first day, you can directly go to Shuirao Simen and take the Bailong Elevator to Yuanjiajie, or you can climb to Yuanjiajie. After seeing Yuanjiajie, stay on the mountain. However, the conditions on the mountain are not as good as below the mountain. Then on the second day see Tianzi Mountain and Ten-Mile Gallery. If you have time in the afternoon, see Yellow Dragon Cave and Baofeng Lake.
