What to wear when traveling to Zhangjiajie in summer during May Day

What to wear and what to note when traveling to Zhangjiajie. It's almost May now, and girls can wear skirts. The mountains in Zhangjiajie are all stone steps, so climbing is not very difficult. Usually, just wear ordinary summer clothes. It seems the sun is out now. Normally, a T-shirt + jacket and a pair of jeans should be fine. Anyway, when I left Zhangjiajie a few months ago, I was wearing this outfit! I suggest preparing an extra thin sweater in case of unexpected weather! A raincoat is a must...

What to wear and what to note when traveling to Zhangjiajie

It's almost May now, and girls can wear skirts. The mountains in Zhangjiajie are all stone steps, so climbing is not very difficult. Usually, just wear ordinary summer clothes. It seems the sun is out now. Normally, a T-shirt + jacket and a pair of jeans should be fine. Anyway, when I left Zhangjiajie a few months ago, I was wearing this outfit! I suggest preparing an extra thin sweater in case of unexpected weather! A raincoat is a must, as it often rains there and the weather can change when you turn a corner on a mountain. Don't buy the disposable raincoats sold at scenic spots; there are many people and climbing involves large movements, so those raincoats break very easily.
Currently, the temperature in Zhangjiajie is around 22-32 degrees Celsius. The air on the mountain is especially good, cool during the day, and you need a quilt at night. It's best to bring a long-sleeved shirt to avoid catching a cold. By the way, before you go out, it's best to check the weather forecast again.

During the May Day holiday, the temperature in Zhangjiajie is expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius. It's very suitable for mountain tourism, but the temperature is lower in the morning and evening, so you need to add a jacket.

If you come to Zhangjiajie during May Day, it's similar to now. Just bring an extra jacket. Also, bring a small travel medicine kit with "Rendan, cooling oil, Shidishui, Ezhu oil, essential balm, Baihua oil, etc. to prevent colds".

For May Day, when traveling to Zhangjiajie, you also need to bring a good "travel mood", because during May Day in Zhangjiajie, there are many people, few rooms, and few vehicles. You can't eat well or sleep soundly, and the scenic area is crowded with people... I strongly suggest that unless necessary, it's best not to go to crowded tourist attractions during May Day or National Day.

Traveling to Zhangjiajie in July is a relatively suitable month, because Zhangjiajie belongs to the Wuling Mountain range, and the temperature in the scenic area is about 2-5 degrees lower than in the city, so just bring an extra jacket.

The temperature in Zhangjiajie city is no different from other southern Chinese cities, around 25-35 degrees Celsius. So when going to the scenic area, it's better to bring some thicker clothes. Also, the weather in the scenic area changes easily, sometimes with showers, so bringing an umbrella is a good choice.

What kind of shoes and socks are most suitable for traveling to Zhangjiajie
When traveling to Zhangjiajie, there are many mountain paths, so I suggest not wearing new shoes. If you have plenty of money, buying new shoes doesn't matter. Because feet and new shoes haven't been broken in, wearing new shoes can easily cause foot fatigue and injury. When walking in the mountains, various situations will be encountered, so sturdy shoes should be chosen for mountain walking: thick soles with large and deep patterns for good anti-slip; hard rubber soles to effectively protect feet on gravel and uneven roads; high and relatively hard uppers to support the ankles; with such shoes, water is less likely to seep in. These shoes are commonly known as hiking boots. The upper of hiking boots is usually made of cowhide or 1000D nylon fabric. Leather itself has some waterproof and breathable function, and nylon with a waterproof breathable membrane can also achieve the same effect.

After putting on the shoes, feel whether your toes can move. If they can't, the shoes are too small. There should be a one-centimeter gap at the front of the toes. Also walk a bit; if the heel slides between the shoe and the heel, it can easily rub the foot, and such shoes are also unsuitable.

Shoelaces should not be tied too loose or too tight, as that will cause feet to tire prematurely and be prone to injury. If the laces are too long, cut them to avoid tripping yourself or getting caught on foreign objects. Use flat ribbon laces, not round rope laces, because rope laces are hard to tie tightly and easily come loose. If you find laces loose during a hike, tie them immediately to avoid danger.

Below is a rough introduction to what kind of shoes and socks are suitable for traveling to Zhangjiajie:

The size of socks should be moderate; don't make do with too large or too small. Feet are the hardest working and most toiling during walking, so treat them well.

Socks are divided into cotton, wool, synthetic, and blended, etc.

Cotton socks: absorb sweat, do not wick, good touch, suitable for outings. In multi-day hikes, feet wearing these socks are most prone to blisters.

Wool socks: warm, very comfortable in cold weather, but heavier.

Synthetic socks: good sweat wicking, prone to odor, should be changed and washed frequently.

Synthetic fleece socks: warm, lightweight, comfortable, first choice for cold-weather outdoor sports.

Blended socks: absorb sweat, wick sweat, good touch, suitable for multi-day hikes.

If outdoor activities are long, it's best to bring several pairs of socks.

In addition, in places where feet and shoes rub a lot, apply some Vaseline or oil-based skincare products to reduce friction and prevent foot injuries.
