External Transportation
Aviation
Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport is located in Hehua Village, Guanliping Office, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City, 5 kilometers from the urban area. It has currently opened flights to and from more than 20 cities across the country, but except for Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Changsha, other cities do not have daily flights. Air schedules change frequently, so the flight numbers displayed on the computers at local ticket offices should be taken as the standard.
Railway
Zhangjiajie's railway lines extend in all directions and are connected to the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway through the Shichang Line. It has currently opened passenger trains with more than 10 large and medium-sized cities in China. The trains from Zhangjiajie to Guangzhou, Changsha, and Zhanjiang are originating trains, making them convenient to take.
If you only want to tour Zhangjiajie, do not take the K502 train from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie or the K525 train from Changsha to Zhangjiajie, because both trains detour through Jishou, Huaihua, and other places, which wastes time. Of course, if you want to visit Fenghuang, you can take either of these two trains and get off at Jishou.
From the railway station to Zhangjiajie City, there are buses operating 24 hours a day, with a fare of 2 RMB.
Highways
From Changsha to and from Zhangjiajie City or Wulingyuan Scenic Area, you can take a long-distance sleeper bus, departing at 7:00 every morning, with a ticket price of about 100 RMB. From Fenghuang to Zhangjiajie, there is one bus every morning at 8:30, with a fare of 40 RMB/person.
Internal Transportation
Highways
Zhangjiajie Bus Station is at the end of Renmin Road. Zhangjiajie City is about 30 kilometers from Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Minibuses run frequently every day, about one every 30 minutes, with a fare of 10 RMB, and you can arrive in about 1 hour.
Mountain Climbing Cableways
If you want to enjoy yourself more freely after entering the mountain, you can take the mountain climbing cableways. The price of the Tianzi Mountain cableway is 52 RMB/person for the ascent and 42 RMB/person for the descent; the price of the Huangshizhai cableway is 48 RMB/person for the ascent and 38 RMB/person for the descent.
Sedan Chairs
Sedan chairs are more expensive than cableways. Generally, it is 100 RMB on flat ground and 200-300 RMB when going uphill, but you can try to bargain.
Sightseeing Buses
Tianzi Mountain and Yangjiajie eco-buses are 15 RMB/person; the Ten-Mile Gallery sightseeing train round trip is 29 RMB/person.
Rafting
Maoyan River rafting: manpowered rubber boat 114 RMB/person, about 3-4 hours to reach the terminal; motorized rubber boat 124 RMB/person, about 2 hours to reach the terminal.
