Inside, with dim lights and dense stalagmites, it feels like ancient trees with gnarled roots. There are caves within caves and rivers within caves—nothing is too strange to exist—making it truly a veritable "underground magic palace." Full day:
Depart from the hotel to the Suoxiyu ticket station and enter the scenic area. Take the Bailong Elevator (elevator ticket ￥72 included) to Yuanjiajie. Yuanjiajie is known for its majestic, peculiar, precipitous, and steep scenery: enjoy sights such as Mihun Terrace, the prototype of the "Hallelujah Mountain" in the movie Avatar—the "Qiankun Pillar," the highest natural stone bridge discovered so far—the No. 1 Bridge under Heaven, and Sanguan Terrace. The visit takes about 2 hours. Then go to Yuanjia Village (about 1 hour inside the village; a complimentary inclusion, no refund or deduction if not visited), the only remaining Tujia mountain village at the top of Zhangjiajie. Preserved in a harsh natural environment, the village showcases the Tujia people's migration and reproduction, living customs, farming tools, and more.
Take the mountaintop shuttle bus for 25 minutes to Tianzi Mountain Nature Scenic Area, known as the "King of Peak Forests": as the saying goes, "Once you know Tianzi's face, you won't look at other mountains after returning." This shows Tianzi Mountain's charming and beautiful scenery with numerous attractions. Visit Helong Park, which combines nature and culture, Yubi Peak, Fairy Presenting Flowers, Xihai Stone Forest, Stone Boat Sailing Out, and more. You can climb to Tianzi Pavilion, the highest point of Tianzi Mountain, and look out over the panoramic view. Afterward, you may choose to walk down (usually about two hours) or take the scenic area cable car (purchase on your own if needed). At the foot of the mountain, visit Ten-Mile Gallery Scenic Area (no less than half an hour): enjoy sights such as the Herb-Gathering Old Man, Three Sisters Peak, and Longevity Star Welcoming Guests. After breakfast, stroll through "China's most beautiful grand canyon"—Golden Whip Stream Scenic Area: Golden Whip Stream is 7.5 km long, and walking the route takes about 2.5 hours. It is a naturally formed beautiful stream named after the Golden Whip Rock. The valley is lush with vegetation, and the stream water is clear in all four seasons. It is called a "landscape gallery" and "earthly fairyland." Visit a national key cultural relic protection unit and a holy place in the hearts of the Tujia people—Tujia Folk Custom Park (a complimentary inclusion; no refund or deduction if not visited). The park features intoxicating Tujia gate-blocking wine, mysterious Tujia ancestor worship activities, displays of Tujia historical relics, and demonstrations of Tujia folk customs. Most buildings in the park are made of wood and stone, with carved beams and painted rafters, resplendent and magnificent, with upturned eaves and exquisite elegance. Representative structures include the Tusi Castle, Hand-Waving Hall, Tujia Village, and Houwang Palace. Especially the Chongtian Tower, built against the mountain, is grand and imposing: 48 meters high, with nine levels and twelve stories, winding paths and ingenious design. It has won two Guinness World Records for "Nine Heavens" and "Thousand-Person Maogusi," and offers rich and colorful Tujia garden art.

Take a bus to the lower station of the Tianmen Mountain cable car and visit Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park (￥258 admission and cable car ticket included). Tianmen Mountain has profound cultural heritage, is known as the "soul of Wuling," and has the reputation of being the first sacred mountain of Xiangxi. It combines peaks, rocks, springs, streams, clouds, and forests, and integrates majesty, wonder, beauty, precipitousness, and tranquility. It is praised as an aerial primeval garden. We will take the Tianmen Mountain cable car to visit Tianmen Mountain: see Tianmen Cave, the 99-bend road wonder (Tongtian Avenue), Li Na Villa, Ghost Valley Plank Road, Ghost Valley Military Formation, Yunmeng Fairy Summit, Tianmen Mountain Temple, Lingquan Courtyard, Wood and Stone Love, and other famous attractions.
Tianmen Cable Car: The cableway has an inclined length of 7,455 meters and a horizontal height difference of 1,279 meters between the upper and lower stations. It is the world's longest single-line circulating detachable grip cabin-style cableway, like a rainbow flying between the "human world" and "heaven," and also like a giant dragon soaring in the cloudy sky, clinging to the mountain and rising into the sky, soul-stirring and magnificent. It has become one of the "Four Wonders" of Tianmen Mountain Tourist Scenic Area.
Tongtian Avenue: Known as Tongtian Avenue, this winding mountain road has a total of 99 bends, like a jade belt winding around, with bends closely connected and layered upward, clinging to the mountain and rushing straight into the clouds. The "No. 1 Road Wonder under Heaven" was born, and viewed from the cable car, the road is as dense as a spider web, with a vertical height difference of about one kilometer.
Tianmen Cave Opening: Climb 999 steps to Tianmen Cave and pray for blessings. It is 131.5 meters high and more than 50 meters wide, opening north-south on a sheer cliff. It is majestic and towering, a rare high-altitude through-mountain karst cave, and an unparalleled wonder that fully displays the magic of creation. In 2006, the Russian Air Force's Zhangjiajie Tianmen Mountain aerobatic performance increased the mystery of Tianmen Cave and once again made it a global focus.
Ghost Valley Plank Road: Beneath your feet is boundless green wilderness, flocks of small birds play in the canyon, and occasionally an eagle sweeps past your eyes. Close your eyes, with numb legs and a racing heartbeat, spread your arms, and you can enjoy the most perfect, exciting, and nature-close SPA. After all, you should know that enjoying scenery on a cliff is generally not something ordinary humans can experience.

At around 15:30, take a bus via the Zhanghua Expressway to Aizhai Bridge Scenic Area (a complimentary inclusion; no refund or deduction if not visited). Visit Tianwen Terrace, suspended above the canyon, where Qu Yuan composed the great poetic works "Jiu Ge" and "Tian Wen" (if time permits, you may visit Observation Deck No. 2 and Jidou Miao Village). Then transfer to the scenic area shuttle bus to visit the Aizhai Highway Wonder, the most perilous pass on the Hunan-Sichuan Highway. This six-kilometer section was built during the War of Resistance Against Japan, and its dangerous terrain and ingenious engineering design rank first among highways nationwide. Along the way, see the Hunan-Sichuan Highway Aizhai Perilous Section Road-Building Martyrs Memorial Tower, China's first highway overpass, the Pioneer Road-Opening Bronze Statue, and the "toughest traffic police in history" duty post. Then return to the viewing platform to closely admire Aizhai Bridge, which created "four world firsts." Afterward, take a bus to Fenghuang.
Fenghuang Ancient Town is a national historical and cultural city and was once praised by the famous New Zealand writer Rewi Alley as China's most beautiful small town. Enjoy Xiangxi scenery along the way and experience ethnic minority customs. At night, view the Tuo River night scene. As thousands of lights on both banks of the Tuo River are lit one by one, the area is full of flowing colors, placing you in a scene of golden splendor. Step into a bar in Fenghuang Ancient Town and experience its noisy yet romantic atmosphere. You can also choose a lotus lantern, make your best wish, and put them together into the long Tuo River...
