Overview
This itinerary is currently the most popular among self-guided tours and the favorite of backpackers. It is suitable for young people with good stamina, and is the most essential and economical route that all visitors to Zhangjiajie must see. Going deep into the core scenic area allows you to enjoy the most beautiful scenery in Zhangjiajie, while the itinerary is very flexible with few restrictions. However, because there is a lot of walking, it has certain physical fitness requirements!

A happy and fresh first day, walking through the peak-forest maze of Golden Whip Stream and the marvelously beautiful Yuanjiajie (the prototype of the Avatar mountains)
Morning:
The guide or driver will meet tourists at the airport, station, or hotel with a sign, then take an air-conditioned tour bus (enjoying 40 minutes of western Hunan rural scenery along the way), and then enter [Zhangjiajie National Forest Park] directly from the forest park ticket station to tour (the 248 yuan ticket is included, valid for three days); hike through the "most beautiful canyon in the world" -- [Golden Whip Stream Scenic Area]: (including attractions such as Guanyin Delivering a Child, Zhu Bajie Carrying His Wife, Divine Eagle Guarding the Whip, Cleaving the Mountain to Save the Mother, Journey to the West filming location, Longevity Spring, and Meeting After a Thousand Miles). After finishing Golden Whip Stream, there are two ways to go up to the mountaintop [Yuanjiajie Scenic Area] (one: from Meeting After a Thousand Miles at Golden Whip Stream, hike up to Yuanjiajie via Luancuan Slope; two: at own expense 180 yuan/person (including the one-way Bailong Elevator ascent and the mountaintop Tujia village -- Yuanjia Village ticket), take the eco-bus from Shuiraosimen to the lower station of Bailong Elevator, then take the world's number one outdoor elevator to Yuanjiajie at the mountaintop.
Afternoon:
After lunch, tour the core of the World Natural Heritage -- [Yuanjiajie Scenic Area]: (including attractions such as the prototype of "Hallelujah Mountain" in the movie Avatar, "Qiankun Pillar," the Number One Bridge Under Heaven, Jiutian Mystic Ladder, Qiankun Pillar, Lianxin Bridge, China-Korea Friendship Pavilion, Divine Turtle Asking Heaven, and Mihun Terrace). Yuanjiajie is one of the most peculiar and spectacular viewing areas at the top of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, surpassing Huangshizhai and Tianzi Mountain scenic areas... Afterward, take about a 20-minute eco-bus to the accommodation at Daguantai.

Tips:
On the first day entering the scenic area, you need to take buses and climb mountains. It is recommended to keep luggage light and wear hiking shoes or casual sportswear.

An awe-inspiring second day, the unrivaled One Step to Heaven, and the naturally immortal yet bandit-spirited Wulong Village
Morning:
After breakfast, you may watch [Daguantai Sunrise], one of Zhangjiajie's four wonders (requires good weather).
Late Morning:
Tour the most beautiful place in Zhangjiajie Scenic Area, [Yangjiajie Scenic Area]: (Tianbo Mansion, Three Ghost Gate Passes, Yang Family Female Warriors, Echo Wall, Lovers Peak, Five Finger Mountain, and other attractions), and western Hunan's most famous bandit lair -- [Wulong Village]: named because the mountain terrain where the stronghold is located is treacherous, and when night falls it resembles a black dragon coiled on the ridge! Yangjiajie scenery, like Zhangjiajie, is mainly pristine natural beauty. Compared with Zhangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, and Suoxiyu, besides basically the same geology, landforms, and some peaks, it also has its own unique features, unlike Zhangjiajie yet surpassing Zhangjiajie. Afternoon:
Tour [Daguantai Scenic Area]: (Tianzi Seat, Immortal Bridge, Divine Chicken Pecking Food, One Step Difficult to Walk), and distant view of [Ten-Mile Gallery Panorama]; among the Daguantai Scenic Area, Immortal Bridge is the most breathtaking! A stone bridge about 1.5 meters wide and more than 10 meters long spans two sheer cliffs; below the bridge clouds and mist swirl, bottomless! Occasionally strange sounds of birds and beasts rise from the valley bottom! Adding a touch of mystery to the Immortal Bridge scenic area. In the evening, view Zhangjiajie Tianzi Mountain sunset - brilliant colorful clouds.

Tips:
There are many attractions to visit today during the tour. Because mountain-type scenic areas mostly involve walking, sightseeing is relatively tiring, and there are few places to buy things in the scenic area. It is recommended to bring some snacks or drinking water to replenish energy and hydration.

On the third day, with lingering memories, savor the legends of Tianzi Mountain and the landscape painting of Wulingyuan
Morning:
Visit the scenic area known as the 'enlarged bonsai, miniature fairyland' and titled King of Peak Forests --- [Tianzi Mountain Scenic Area]: 'If one knows the face of Tianzi, no need to see other mountains after returning.' This shows Tianzi Mountain's charming scenery, beautiful views, and numerous attractions, such as Fairy Scattering Flowers, Yubi Peak, Tianzi Pavilion, West Sea Peak Forest, Cloud Rock, and other sights. [He Long Park]: the bronze statue of He Long, one of the ten marshals. You can also climb to the highest point of Tianzi Mountain, Tianzi Pavilion, and overlook the panoramic view of Tianzi Mountain. Then descend the mountain (there are two ways: one is to hike down for two hours via Wolong Ridge to the foot of the mountain; the other is to take the cable car down from the Tianzi Mountain cableway upper station).
Afternoon:
Take a tour bus for about 50 minutes back to the city, passing through the 'thousand-year ancient battlefield' Baizhang Gorge to exit the scenic area: the gorge is named because there are stone walls nearly a hundred zhang high piercing the sky, making one afraid to look up. Return to Zhangjiajie city, arrange a visit to a citizen's living supermarket for guests to replenish travel supplies and choose local specialties. If the weather is clear, you can also see the majestic Tianmen Mountain and Tianmen Cave, the 'soul of Wuling,' from the bus. End the pleasant journey!
