Meet in Changsha at around 08:00 at the railway station square. Depart at around 8:30. View the Xiang River—Changsha's mother river. It surges from the south and flows northward. On both banks of the Xiang River, red cliffs are like rosy clouds, white sand like snow, weeping willows like silk, and masts and sails like clouds, forming the beautiful Changsha riverside scenery belt. Then visit one of the Eight Views of Xiaoxiang—[Orange Isle]; "Alone in the cold autumn, at the head of Orange Isle, I see thousands of hills all red, layers of woods dyed through; the whole river green and clear, hundreds of boats contending..."
