In the morning, the guide will pick you up for free at the train station or airport, then drive about 3 hours to Guzhang Red Stone Forest (168 yuan ticket included) – the world's only red carbonate rock forest scenic area formed in the Cambrian period. The scenic area is filled with tall and strange rocks of various shapes and colors that change with weather, time, and season: red in clear weather, black in rain, brown-red in overcast, and different at dawn and dusk. Stone landscapes in the scenic area include: Shu Dog Barking at the Sun, Young Swallows Waiting to Be Fed, Loulan Ancient City, Snail Moving, Seven-Color Maze, Sharp Sword Piercing the Sky, Aircraft Carrier Cruise, Stone Soldiers in Formation, Maiden Bathing, Guanyin Sitting on Lotus, Stone Whip Waiting for Master, Spirit Turtle Exploring the Sea, Brown Bear Greeting Guests, Heavenly Dog Barking at the Sun, Otter Watching Clouds, Hen Nesting, Camel Bells Ringing... Especially "Giant Circle," "Ancient City Forbidden City," "Eight Trigrams Strange Formation," and "Zhuge's Hidden Books" are the best among the strange stone wonders. The scenic area also has underground karst caves, cliff sky pits, mysterious pits, thousand-year-old trees, Tujia villages, Tujia customs, and ancient business sites... The entire scenic area combines red, beautiful, steep, strange, unique, and ancient features, and can be called "the first wonder of Wuling" (tour time no less than 2 hours). Then drive about 3 hours to China's most beautiful small town, Fenghuang Ancient Town, and check into the hotel. After ticket check, take the eco-bus to the foot of the scenic area, then at your own expense 72 yuan/person take the Bailong Elevator up the mountain to tour the prototype of the "Avatar" movie filming—Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, enjoy the First Bridge Under Heaven, Mihun Platform, and other attractions [tour time no less than 1 hour]. Then take the eco-bus for about 50 minutes to the king of peak forests—Tianzi Mountain, tour Helong Park, Helong Bronze Statue, Yunqing Rock, Xihai Stone Forest, view the ace attraction of Wulingyuan—Yubi Peak, Fairy Presenting Flowers, Tianzi Pavilion, Five Warriors Training Horses [tour time no less than 1.5 hours]. After breakfast, enter the National Forest Park scenic area again with ticket check: In the morning, stroll along the Golden Whip Stream Grand Canyon: (total length 7.5 km, walking time no less than 2 hours) along the way see the landmark attraction of Golden Whip Stream—Golden Whip Rock, Divine Eagle Protecting the Whip, Cleaving the Mountain to Save the Mother, Golden Turtle Exploring the Stream, Purple Grass Pool, Meeting After a Thousand Miles, Jumping Fish Pool, Water Winding Around Four Gates, and other attractions. In the afternoon, Huangshizhai Scenic Area: about 1200 meters above sea level (at your own expense take the cableway 118 yuan/person round trip, cable car 10 minutes, or hike up and down on your own, each takes 2 hours). The summit area is about 80 mu, combining majesty, steepness, and beauty (Liuqi Pavilion, Star-Picking Platform, Fog Sea Golden Turtle, and other attractions, summit tour about 2 hours); then take the eco-bus out of Zhangjiajie mountain gate.
