Overview
This route is the favorite of young adventure-loving backpackers, for self-guided tours in Zhangjiajie, but it is the first choice for guests very interested in water entertainment projects. It is convenient and economical, with a high degree of freedom and entertainment throughout, but it is seasonal in terms of time!
🧭 Itinerary

Walk through the peak forest maze of Golden Whip Stream and the extraordinary and beautiful Yuanjiajie (the prototype of the Avatar mountain)
Morning:
The guide and driver will meet the tourists at the airport, train station, or hotel with a sign, then take an air-conditioned tour bus (enjoying 40 minutes of Xiangxi rural scenery along the way) and directly enter the scenic area from the Forest Park ticket station (ticket 248 yuan included); hike through the "most beautiful canyon in the world"---Golden Whip Stream Scenic Area (including attractions such as Guanyin Delivering a Child, Zhu Bajie Carrying His Wife, Divine Eagle Protecting the Whip, Cleaving the Mountain to Save the Mother, the filming location of Journey to the West, Longevity Spring, and Meeting After a Thousand Miles). After walking through Golden Whip Stream, there are two ways to go up to the top of Yuanjiajie Scenic Area (Option one: hike up from the Thousand-Mile Meeting at Golden Whip Stream via the Luanchuan Slope to Yuanjiajie; Option two: at your own expense of 180 yuan per person (including the one-way Bailong Elevator and the ticket to the mountaintop Tujia village—Yuanjia Village), take the eco-bus from Shuiraosimen to the lower station of the Bailong Elevator, then take the world's No. 1 outdoor elevator to the top of Yuanjiajie.
Afternoon:
After lunch, visit the core of the World Natural Heritage---Yuanjiajie Scenic Area (including the prototype of the "Hallelujah Mountain" in the movie Avatar, the "Qiankun Pillar", the No. 1 Bridge under Heaven, the Nine Heavens Mystic Ladder, the Qiankun Pillar, the Heart-Linking Bridge, the China-Korea Friendship Pavilion, the Divine Turtle Asking Heaven, and the Ecstasy Platform). Yuanjiajie is one of the most peculiar and spectacular scenic spots on the top of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, surpassing Huangshizhai and Tianzi Mountain... Afterward, take about a 20-minute eco-bus to the accommodation at Daguantai.

Morning:
After breakfast, you can watch the sunrise, one of the four wonders of Zhangjiajie (requires good weather).
Late Morning:
Visit Yangjiajie Scenic Area, the most beautiful place in Zhangjiajie Scenic Area (including attractions such as Tianbo Mansion, One Step to Heaven, Sky Corridor, Three Ghost Passes, Yang Family Female Warriors, Echo Wall, Lovers' Peak, Five Finger Mountain, Tianbo Mansion, and Wulang Worshipping Buddha), and Wulong Village, the most famous bandit den in greater Xiangxi. It is named because the mountain where the village is located is treacherous, and when night falls, it looks like a black dragon coiled on the mountain ridge! The scenery of Yangjiajie, like Zhangjiajie, is mainly primitive natural beauty. Compared with Zhangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, and Suoxiyu, apart from the geological landforms and some peaks being basically the same, it also has its own unique features. It is not like Zhangjiajie, yet even more than Zhangjiajie. It is an excellent scenic area that regular tour groups do not have time to visit...
Afternoon:
Visit Daguantai Scenic Area (Tianzi Seat, Immortal Bridge, Divine Chicken Pecking, One Step Difficult to Walk), and distant view of the panorama of Ten-Mile Gallery; among the Daguantai Scenic Area, the Immortal Bridge is the most breathtaking! A stone bridge about 1.5 meters wide and more than 10 meters long spans two sheer cliffs; below the bridge, clouds and mist swirl, and the bottom is unfathomable! Occasionally, strange sounds of birds and beasts rise from the valley bottom! This adds a bit of mystery to the Immortal Bridge Scenic Area. In the evening, watch the sunset over Tianzi Mountain in Zhangjiajie - brilliant rosy clouds.

Special Tips:
There are many scenic spots to visit during the day. Since mountain-type scenic areas mostly involve walking, sightseeing can be tiring, and there are few places to buy things in the scenic area. It is recommended to bring some snacks or drinking water to replenish energy and moisture.

Reading the legends of Tianzi Mountain
Morning:
Visit Tianzi Mountain Scenic Area (Fairy Maiden Scattering Flowers, Imperial Brush Peak, Tianzi Pavilion, Cloud Rock and other attractions), known as the "King of Peak Forests" and praised as "an enlarged bonsai, a miniature fairyland". Then visit Helong Park and the bronze statue of Helong, one of the Ten Marshals. Afterwards, head down the mountain to tour the scenic area below. (There are two ways down: 1. Hike down via Wolong Ridge to the Ten-Mile Gallery Scenic Area at the foot of the mountain. 2. Take the Tianzi Mountain cableway from the upper station down the mountain for ￥67 at your own expense, then take the scenic shuttle bus to the Wulingyuan entrance gate.)
Afternoon:
Take a tour bus for about 50 minutes back to the city, passing by the "thousand-year-old ancient battlefield" Baizhang Gorge on the way out of the scenic area: the gorge gets its name because it has nearly hundred-zhang-high stone cliffs piercing the sky, too steep to look up at. Return to Zhangjiajie city. If the weather is clear, you can also view the majestic Tianmen Mountain and Tianmen Cave, the "soul of Wuling", from the bus.

Experience the passion of dancing with the waves! Feel the wonder of extraordinary landscapes
Full Day:
After breakfast, take a private car to the "Number One Rafting in the World" -- Mengdong River Rafting (￥170 included). Starting from "Hani Palace", you drift downstream in a small boat through the high mountain gorges of primeval secondary forest. Wearing life jackets, riding rubber rafts, braving rapids, battling rushing currents, enjoying beautiful scenery along the way, bathing in waterfalls, having water fights, passing through gorge passes, appearing and disappearing among the waves and valley floor. You will pass Triangle Rock, Chicken Coop Gate, Nitu Waterfall, Yama Rapids, LuoshuiKeng Waterfall, Mengsi Gorge... dozens of scenic spots come one after another, too beautiful to take in all at once. You can sing loudly, brave the waves and rapids, or play in the water and have fun, rediscovering the self you lost long ago. The entire rafting trip is over 20 kilometers and lasts four hours! Afterwards, you may visit the thousand-year-old ancient town -- Furong Town (also known as Wangcun, the filming location of the movie starring Liu Xiaoqing and Jiang Wen) at your own expense: the ancient town's stone-paved street, chastity archway, Wangcun Waterfall, and taste Liu Xiaoqing's rice tofu. In the afternoon, after an exciting and happy day, return to Zhangjiajie city!
Special Tips:
Today you will be immersed in mountains and rivers, accompanied by mountains and dancing with water! During the passionate rafting, passing through waterfalls will soak you completely. Friends who cannot get wet must buy plastic raincoats in advance for waterproofing. Friends who are not afraid of water must prepare a spare set of clothes in the car to change at the rafting endpoint... Return to Zhangjiajie city by car and see off the group (or guests can go to Fenghuang on their own), ending the pleasant journey!
