Zhangjiajie Huangshizhai Passenger Cableway Co., Ltd. is located in Zhangjiajie Forest Park and was established in 1993.
This cableway was put into operation in November 1997. It is China's first reciprocating cableway.
The Huangshizhai Cableway was the first sightseeing cableway in our city, jointly built from May 1995 to September 1997 by Taiwan Zhengji Xingye Co., Ltd. and the Zhangjiajie Park Management Office. The total investment was 45 million yuan. It mainly operates the Zhangjiajie Huangshizhai passenger cableway. The Huangshizhai Cableway has an inclined length of 973 meters and a height difference of 430 meters. It is a single-carrying, single-traction, car-group reciprocating cableway jointly built by the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Management Office and Taiwan Ruizhan Company, with major mechanical and electrical equipment introduced from the French company POMA. Since beginning operation in 1997, it has received nearly ten million visitors cumulatively and has many times successfully completed the task of receiving Party and state leaders. The company has successively passed ISO9001, ISO14001, and GB/T28001 management certifications. To improve passenger riding comfort and safety assurance, Huangshizhai Ropeway formally proposed a ropeway renovation plan in 2006 and completed all approval procedures in 2008. The Huangshizhai Ropeway Company's renovation project will adopt an 8-person gondola circulating detachable passenger ropeway, with a total investment of 80 million yuan. It will continue to be funded and constructed by Taiwan Zhengji Xingye Co., Ltd. and the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Management Office according to their joint venture ratio, with construction planned to begin on November 8, 2009. The ropeway equipment is expected to arrive by the end of this month, and the steel structure construction can be completed in early September, along with supervision and other bidding work. Based on current progress, our office plans to officially suspend the Huangshizhai Ropeway for renovation starting November 8, and strive to complete the renovation and resume reception before May 1, 2010.
