When descending from the west side of the Huangshizhai summit, on a stone peak with a flat platform top near the Houka Gate, a stone turtle about 5 meters long has its head facing forward in a crawling posture. On sunny days, the turtle rock appears golden yellow, hence it is called the Golden Turtle. Changes in weather can also make it display various colors and shapes, so it also has several alternate names such as 'Sea of Mist Golden Turtle,' 'Golden Turtle Exploring the Sea,' and 'Sunset Golden Turtle.'
When you descend about two to three hundred meters from the back gate and look back and up, the Golden Turtle Rock vividly resembles a toad. It slightly raises its head, as if alert to something, or as if accompanying someone—truly both form and spirit are captured. It is called 'Golden Toad Accompanying the Moon.'
