At the junction of Zhongping and Xiaping in Yuanjiajie, a clear spring flows out from a limestone karst cave. The cave mouth is about 1 meter high and about 2 meters wide. After entering the cave it gradually widens, with the widest area reaching 90 square meters, and a total length of 310 meters. There are caves within caves, and on the cave walls are stone flowers, stone curtains, and water-eroded textures resembling castles in the air. The cave floor is covered with stalactites shaped like fish, turtles, dragons, and horses, as well as terraced stone pools. From the cave ceiling, spring water drips in many places into pools more than 1 meter deep, sounding like silver bells. The spring flow winds like a dragon, and the cave interior is dark as lacquer, hence the name.
