Yueliang Ya is a mountain pass at the junction of the Zhangjiajie and Yangjiazhai scenic areas, named because the pass resembles a crescent moon. From Shadao Gully, follow the 1,007-step stone slab path winding up to the mountaintop to reach the pass. On the pass there is a 20-square-meter platform, with red rock slabs laid out neatly and stone benches arranged in a ring. On the northern side is a pavilion with a stone table inside. On the southern side stands a half-moon-shaped stone tablet inscribed with the three characters "Yueliang Ya." Beside the pass, an ancient tree with luxuriant branches and leaves is like a red osmanthus in the moon. Sitting on the stone bench and looking up to the north and south, the peaks are beautiful and the trees emerald green, and the blue sky is bright. The eastern gap is filled with towering ancient trees, and among the branches and leaves are several green peaks, faintly visible. The western gap has a broad field of view, with the vast and indistinct blue sky, circling goshawks, and flowing white clouds that seem to be beneath your feet. In the middle of the gap, a hundred meters away, a peak is set in, delicate and graceful. To the southeast stretches a stone wall a thousand meters long and more than 300 meters high, cutting across north and south, shaped like an ancient castle, row upon row. At the eastern end of the pass, the deep valley is bottomless. Visitors walking on the zigzag stone path are separated by green branches and leaves, hearing voices but not seeing people. When the bright moon hangs in the sky, all sounds are still, and sitting on the pass gazing at the moon feels as if you are in the clouds.
