On November 30, 1935, the 13th Regiment of the 5th Division of the Second Red Army fought with the Kuomintang 19th Division at Maojiapo in the northern suburbs of Pushi. Two Red Army soldiers died gloriously in the battle and were buried at Houzi Slope. In 1997, a martyrs' tomb was built and a monument erected in their memory.
