Taiping Mountain is 8 kilometers from Longshan County seat and has been a Buddhist holy site since ancient times. Taiping Mountain is majestic, precipitous, and steep. Its summit is wrapped in clouds and mist all year round, and only a small stone path can be climbed, with iron chain railings along the way. Three mountain gates are set up along the route. A temple was built at the summit, beginning in the sixth year of Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. At its peak, more than 300 monks lived there permanently. Legend says that when the temple's fifth-generation abbot, Zen Master Hongsong, traveled to the capital, he once cured Emperor Guangxu of a dangerous illness called 'back flower' and received imperial conferment and rewards. After returning to Taiping Mountain, he built the Sutra Library, Guanyin Pavilion, and other structures, making Taiping Mountain famous throughout the world.

In the late 1920s, the famous Chinese political activist Zhang Taiyan visited Taiping Mountain and greatly praised it, happily writing: 'Taiping Mountain has layered green ridges, lush trees, steep and beautiful peaks, halls reaching the clouds, and beautiful scenery no less than Mount Lu and Yandang.'

In 1997, Mr. Zhao Puchu, chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, personally inscribed the mountain name 'Taiping Mountain,' adding luster to the calligraphy and restoring Buddhist radiance. In 1998, a tourist road from the county seat to Taiping Mountain was completed. The main scenic spots include Songyue Pagoda, Xiying Cave, Guanyin Temple, and Dengtian Ladder.
