The Diku Temple is located below the Flying Stone Peak of Yumu Mountain, directly above Shishilong Zaoo'ao. According to the Bamboo Annals: "In ancient times, Shuqi caused chaos, and the Marquis Xin (Diku) pursued him to Heng and came to Yumu Mountain, where he cut off his head." Later, Emperor Shun made a southern tour and built a temple here to offer sacrifices to him. In the autumn of 1993 AD, when local people raised funds to repair the Diku Temple, while clearing the foundation and digging the earth, more than 4,000 ancient copper coins were unearthed, all coins from the Tang and Song periods. From this it is inferred that the Diku Temple was probably built in the Tang and Song dynasties or before.
The Diku Temple is the only place in China for offering sacrifices to Diku. (It is said that Diku was one of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors; the Three Sovereigns and one Emperor are Yanhuang, Zhuanxu, Diku, Tang Yao, and Yu Shun.) The Diku Temple was first built in the time of Great Shun and went through rise and decline. According to historical records, there were two relatively large-scale reconstruction activities: one was the prayer and repair by Wang Zhao, Vice Minister of Works in the Ming Dynasty, and the other was the reconstruction in 1993 by local people raising funds after the Diku Temple was destroyed in 1944 during the War of Resistance Against Japan.
