Huanxiu Tower is located on the southeast side of Wuyi Square in the urban area, close to the Leishui River. Also known as Wangjiang Tower, Kuixing Tower, or Octagonal Pavilion, it was built in the 9th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming dynasty (1376). Through the Qing dynasty and the Republic of China period, it was repaired multiple times, and in 1995 the municipal government restored it to its original appearance. Today the tower is four stories and 30 meters tall, with an octagonal base and a helmet-style top, with octagonal carved beasts, flying eaves, and hanging bells. The tower has a suspended basin-style ceiling, with colorful paintings of figures, landscapes, and auspicious beasts that are remarkably lifelike.
