Renrui Temple

Renrui Temple is one of Hunan's famous monasteries. During the Shunzhi era, the monk Shi Zhi fled with his mother to Qishan to escape war and built the temple. Shi Zhi was the founding patriarch of Renrui Temple. It was rebuilt in 1866 during the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, later expanded with three main halls and two side halls, grand in scale. The temple still stands, with towering ancient trees beside it and a stone stele recording the deeds of the eminent monk Shi Zhi. Renrui Temple sits on the mountainside of Qishan, first built in 1649 during the fifth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty. It received the Qing imperial title 'Wanshou Renrui.'

  Renrui Temple is one of Hunan's famous temples. During the Shunzhi reign, a monk named Shizhi, to escape military turmoil, fled with his mother to Qi Mountain and built a temple. Shizhi was the founding patriarch of Renrui Temple. It was rebuilt in the 5th year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing dynasty, and later three main halls and two side halls were completed, grand in scale. The temple still exists today, the towering ancient trees beside the temple remain, and the temple-building stone stele still records the deeds of the eminent monk Shizhi.

  Renrui Temple is situated on the mountainside of Qi Mountain and was first built in the 5th year of the Shunzhi reign of the Qing dynasty (1649). The temple is renowned far and wide for receiving the Qing imperial title 'Wanshou Renrui Temple' and is a famous Buddhist holy site in southern Hunan. 
 


  The temple still preserves cultural relics such as the plaque bestowed by Emperor Guangxu, Buddhist scriptures, and a thousand-person pot. It also contains ancient sites such as the Putong Pagoda and white marble pagoda forest.

  Renrui Temple is situated amidst beautiful mountains and clear waters, uniquely blessed, and combined with its strong Buddhist atmosphere, it has become an excellent place for sightseeing and pilgrimage.
