Qingquan Mountain is located 17 kilometers east of Hengyang City, with an elevation of 158 meters and an area of 2 square kilometers, close to the Leishui River. The mountain is not high, yet it is famous throughout Hengyue. The spring well is connected to the sand river, warm in winter and cool in summer. At the foot of the mountain, farmhouses stand against the slopes, dotted among green mountains, clear waters, and rare flowers and grasses, just like the "Peach Blossom Spring" in Tao Yuanming's writing. The "Youling Youlu Wine" brewed from the mountain spring was once a fine tribute of successive dynasties. Qingquan Mountain has a long history and many allusions. The water of Qingquan Mountain was once praised in a poem by the Qing Dynasty scholar Zhu Peilian: "In Qingquan Mountain the mountain has clear springs, ten thousand qing of Youling Lake tease a single pool; Youling Youlu appears as a treasure in Zhang Zai's fu, originally used to clarify wine as tribute to Nanjing." In recent years, even without temples and facilities, many believers from the Hengyang region and even southern Hunan still come here to burn incense and worship Buddha. It can be seen that Qingquan Mountain is a holy place for tourism, Buddhist worship, and leisure.
