The Memorial Hall of the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Revolutionary Base Area (Pingjiang County Museum) is in Gaibandong, Huangjindong Township, east of Xiangyin County. In 1934, the Nationalist government sent troops to launch the fifth "encirclement and suppression" campaign against the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi base area. The provincial-level organs of Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi were forced to withdraw from Xiaoyuan in Wanzai, Jiangxi, and moved here in July 1934. The former site is an ordinary mud-and-wood structure dwelling, listed in 1956 as a key cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province. In 1982, the Hunan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs allocated funds to repair the former site. Located at Sanduyuan Huaguo Mountain in Pingjiang county seat, it covers 11 mu, with a building area of 3,800 square meters and an exhibition area of 1,040 square meters. It is an emerging patriotism education base and a beautiful cultural landscape of our county. The museum is in an antique style with glazed upturned eaves and winding corridors. The buildings consist of the main hall, gate tower, square, steps, and lawns. The interior landscape is unique, the environment elegant, solemn, and magnificent.
