It is on the upper reaches of the Xinqiang River in Yueyang County. The dam is 44.5 meters high, the reservoir area is 41.6 square kilometers, and the total storage capacity is 635 million cubic meters, making it the second-largest irrigation district in Hunan Province. More than 100 large and small islands (unsubmerged mountain peaks) are scattered within the reservoir, making it appear colorful and bewildering, and it is hailed as the "Thousand-Island Lake." On the water, boats ride the waves; on the mountainsides, cars stream endlessly.
