Leida Rock is located in Pinglei Village, Dongshan Town. It is the highest peak of Taohua Mountain, with an elevation of 384 meters. The terrain is steep and dangerous, especially the northwest side, which is precipitous and cliff-like, as if split by an axe. Climbing to the top and looking around, one sees undulating peaks, crisscrossing fertile fields, and cooking smoke and floating clouds all within view, making visitors feel as if they are in a painting. Thirty meters from the summit is a stone cave six or seven meters deep called Dasheng Cave. Legend has it that after Sun Wukong caused havoc in heaven, seeing the heavenly soldiers pursuing him urgently, he hid in this cave and by day stole and ate the flat peaches planted by the Queen Mother of the West on the mountain. When the Jade Emperor learned of this, he was furious and sent the Thunder God to sound thunder as a warning on the opposite mountain (Tianjing Mountain) (this is why Tianjing Mountain was originally called Tianjing [Heavenly Warning] Mountain). But the Great Sage, thinking the cave deep and solid, refused to submit. The heavenly deity, obeying the imperial decree, split the stone peak with thunder, intending to destroy the cave and kill the monkey, but only split off part of the peak, and the cave and the Great Sage remained safe and sound. The scattered rocks below the peak are from that thunder strike. From then on, this peak has been called Leida Rock by people.
