Zhongzhou refers to the "Zhuangyuan Zhou" by the Liuyang River in present-day Liuyang City, about a li or more in length, with level sand spread like brocade and green grass like a carpet. The night scene is especially enchanting. Whenever the moon accompanies the sky, the waves reflect the moonlight and the river breeze strikes the face, hence the name "Zhongzhou Wind and Moon." Zhou Zhongxin also wrote a ci poem: "Vast and open, embracing the river's flow, elegantly like Yingzhou; clear breeze and bright moon remain here long. Who shares this fine scene with me? My eyes wander and my spirit roams. On the north bank mist floats, at the southern shore clouds gather; bright sand and emerald water stretch to the distant sky. On such a good night, how shall I express my feelings? I pour wine and toast in return."
