Heimifeng Forest Park is located in the northeast of Wangcheng, only 20 kilometers from the provincial capital Changsha. It covers an area of 4,079 hectares, with rich vegetation and a forest coverage rate of 73.9%. There are 673 plant species in 7 populations. Heimifeng (Black Muntjac Peak) was named because black muntjacs were once seen there. To date, 71 species of wild animals have been discovered, 34 of which are listed as nationally protected animals.
The main peak of Heimifeng stands at 590.5 meters above sea level, the highest peak in the suburbs of Changsha. Standing at the summit, one sees vast rolling mountains surging before the eyes; enjoying the sunrise in the morning and the sunset glow in the evening is truly refreshing. Among the lofty mountains, more than ten bodies of water such as Huxichong Reservoir are like high-gorge flat lakes, clear as mirrors; the Shenshui Spring gushes forth and the Longmen Waterfall flies down, forming countless mountain streams that gurgle melodiously; in the streams are many unusual rocks, such as Carp Rock and Poolside Golden Turtle, all remarkably true to life; on the valley slopes, terraced fields are densely spread, and farmhouses are faintly visible deep in the green shade; amid the mountains, waters, and fields, birds sing and flowers are fragrant throughout the four seasons; dense forests and tall bamboo stay green year-round. Because of the high mountains and dense forests, a forest microclimate of "no extreme heat in summer, no severe cold in winter" is formed. The average temperature here is 14°C, with summer average temperatures of 20-28°C. The air is fresh and the water quality excellent, satisfying people's longing to return to nature—truly an ideal destination for leisure, tourism, and conferences.
