Stepping into the park, the first thing that greets the eye is verdant mountains and emerald waters—a shimmering expanse of green that, under the golden sunlight, appears all the more pure and crystalline. That is the man-made lake opening its bosom, gazing affectionately as it washes away the dust of your journey. A few small bumper boats glide slowly toward you, their wakes splashing with the songs and laughter of delighted visitors. Especially striking are the Twin Phoenix Pavilions extending into the lake—with their glazed green tiles, carved beams, and painted rafters, novel and distinctive, they are resplendent in gold and jade, dazzling to behold. And the fantastical mountain ridges that nestle against the water, each a world unto itself, like a fairyland—boundless scenery, captivating and inspiring endless reverie. Those three jutting mountain ridges surging together toward the man-made lake resemble three emerald dragons rearing up their dripping-green scales as they play with a dazzling pearl; they also look like a green mountain villa gently extending the delicate back of its hand, tenderly awaiting visitors to nestle into its fragrant embrace and drift into sweet dreams. Leaving the man-made lake behind and climbing the bluestone path step by step, you arrive at the new scenic playground of "Cloud Sea Lake." It cleverly makes use of the hillside terrain, integrating a paddling pool, water slides, and a Flower-Fruit Mountain Villa into one. Electric pumps draw clear spring water up to a reservoir atop "Flower-Fruit Mountain," from which the water flows naturally downward, winding past the Guanyin Buddha statue to form a spectacular artificial waterfall 15 meters wide and 10 meters high. The water then rushes down two 70-meter-long slides straight into the paddling pool at the foot of the hill. Visitors can ride the "white dragon" atop Flower-Fruit Mountain, surfing and splashing to their heart's content, taking photos as keepsakes—joy without end. Leaving Flower-Fruit Mountain and strolling along the tree-shaded path, breathing the fresh air, gazing at the lush tall trees and verdant shrubs, touching the dense vines, sniffing the fragrant grass, and inhaling the scent of red blossoms and green leaves, you will suddenly feel the fierce heat subside and your spirit refresh. You will loathe the clamor of the bustling city and fall deeply in love with nature's ethereal beauty, becoming enchanted by these rivers and mountains. If you come with a companion, you will love both the landscape and the beauty beside you, your heart elated, your spirit inspired. "Strolling with spring in step to the edge of heaven, before entering the Southern Garden the flowers already bloom fair. The garden is like a poem, like a painting, its ink fragrant; its clear scent intoxicates the immortal in the moon. What a pity the scenery cannot be stolen away; I repent that I cannot come to the mortal world." These lines are the very portrait of this moment.
The park covers 527 mu and boasts over 200 species of rare flowers and trees, including pink dan bamboo, purple bamboo, black bamboo, silver cypress, and camphor. With a greening rate of 93%, it has long been known as the "Green Pearl" of Xiaoxiang.
The barbecue at Nanjiao Park is unsurpassed in Hunan—just hearing about it stirs the heart and makes the mouth water. Over a hundred small stoves are all fully occupied, as people share the joy of outdoor cooking.
