Juhuatang Park is located on the west side of Dongsi Road in Xiangtan City, with convenient transportation. It opened to the public on April 28, 1992.
The park is mainly landscaped with plants. Spring flowers are in full bloom, summer shade is dense, autumn colors are brilliant, and winter scenery is verdant. There are views in all four seasons, with many scenic spots, each different, and landscapes that vary from season to season. The main plants are noted for their bright colors, some for their rich fragrance, and some for their verdant uprightness. The scenery is charming and serene, tranquil and peaceful.
The park covers an area of 14 hectares. The districts are arranged in alternating large and small sizes, with changing openness and seclusion, alternating enclosure and exposure, and combinations of solid and void, forming diverse garden spaces. The whole park is divided into 10 scenic areas (from north to south). Liuxiang Stream and Songyun Stream organically link the various scenic areas together, and each area faces water on one side within a space of undulating hillsides.
Inside there are various sports equipment for children to play on, as well as boats, windmills, teahouses suitable for all ages, a uniquely interesting barbecue area, and cherry trees planted to commemorate the 5th anniversary of China-Japan friendship. Since opening, the park has received more than 1 million visitors and was rated the best park in Hunan Province in 1999.
