The Gaofeng Pagoda on Baota Ridge in Xiangtan was first built in the 42nd year of the Wanli reign of the Ming dynasty (1615 AD). It was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution and rebuilt in 1994. It is located near the Hongqi Commercial and Trade City in the Xiangtan Development Zone, with National Highway 107 passing nearby. It faces the Xiang River and lies between the First and Third Xiangtan Xiang River Bridges.
