Longdong (Dragon Cave) is located in Longdong Township, Xiangxiang City. Within its territory is a limestone karst cave over a thousand meters long. Legend has it that long ago a dragon emerged from the cave, hence the name. It is famous for being large, deep, winding, and bizarre. Stalagmites shaped like beds and pots in a thousand postures are enchanting. Comrade Mao Zedong visited Longdong Township when he investigated the peasant movement in Hunan. There are also two former residences of great figures here: Chen Geng's former residence in Quanhu Village, Longdong Township, and Tan Zheng's former residence in Nanxiang Village, Longdong Township.
