Egret Lake Resort is a provincial-level tourist resort located in the northeast corner of Changsha City, Hunan Province, more than sixty kilometers from the urban area, within Gaoqiao Town of Changsha County. It was developed on the basis of the Tongrenqiao Reservoir, which was first built in 1979 at a cost of nearly ten million yuan, covering more than 5,400 mu, of which 2,100 mu is water surface.

The resort is surrounded by green mountains embracing green waters, and the green waters kiss the green mountains. Reflections shimmer on the waves, some like sharp swords pointing to the sky, others like figures, dragons, and serpents, vividly lifelike, each with a different form, near and far, presenting a magnificent spectacle. As the saying goes, "Since ancient times, famous mountains have been mostly occupied by monks." Here there are five temples and nunneries, large and small, with flourishing incense offerings. For dozens of li around, peaks and ridges pile up layer upon layer, forests are dense, thin mist curls around, and mountain flowers bloom in profusion. Flying birds gather, swimming fish play in the water, mountains set off the emerald waters, and waters hold up the green mountains, enhancing each other's beauty. It enjoys the reputation of being the "Jingpo Lake" of the south.

The egret is a national third-class protected animal. Every year from March to May, tens of thousands of egrets spread their wings and fly, roosting among the woods and reproducing, forming a unique spectacle of the resort. In winter, thousands of wild ducks gather here to roost, playing on the lake surface—a truly remarkable sight. Spring blossoms and autumn fruits, abundant resources—this has become a natural protected kingdom for the reproduction and habitation of various wild animals. Spring, summer, autumn, and winter; ice, wind, rain, and snow; clear, cloudy, foggy, and crisp weather; morning, noon, and evening waves—each has its own charm.

At present, 29 scenic spots have been developed, such as "Sigong Gorge," "Dragon Gate Angling," "Lakeside Bird-Watching," "Stone Ox Gazing at the Moon," "Nine Dragons Paying Homage to the King," and "Cuckoo Crying at Night." Apart from sightseeing, the resort also provides ideal places for rest and entertainment for visitors. During the day, you can take speedboats, pedal boats, or rowboats to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery of the scenic area, or splash to your heart's content in the swimming pool. At night, you can go to the entertainment building to enjoy yourself and sing, or go up to the waterside pavilion and enjoy the enchanting night scenery of Egret Lake.
